Nuxe Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm Review

Pros:

Makes my lips very soft.

Cons:

The container – a glass jar – is pretty heavy and therefore unpractical to carry around with you (unless you travel with a stroller or a personal servant/boyfriend who carries your stuff around).

More:

I have wanted this lip balm ever since watching Jeanne Damas video for Vogue showing her favourites from the French pharmacies (for those of you who don‘t know her – she is a French blogger/style icon now a fashion designer with a mantelpiece – of all things- to die for)..So when I had a day in Paris this was THE ONLY thing I got from a pharmacy (for a crazy shopaholic beauty blogger this is an achievement).

So – what do I think about the balm? First and foremost, the package is just very unpractical – it‘s a relatively heavy glass jar – so you can‘t really drag it around in your purse. Therefore I have been applying it before bed – with a good result, my lips have felt great and all dryness gone when I wake up – but I did have to reapply lip balm during the day, and by the end of the day my lips can feel dry again. The texture is pretty thick, like a paste made of wax – which also feels like having was on your lips, which takes a while to get absorbed (and is pretty impossible to apply in a thin layer). Thirdly – the ingredients list for this balm is very yummy – acacia honey, shea butter, grapefruit essence, sweet almond oil and Vitamin E – can‘t say anything negative about that.

Verdict – if you buy it at a decent price (around 12 dollars which it costs France) this balm lasts long, and since its packaging is unpractical (too unpractical to carry around with you) you might even create a great new ritual applying it before you go to bed. What makes it not so great – I still have to apply other balms during the day for my dry lips, even though I see a great difference when using it before bed, and the feeling of having was on your lips which takes ages to get absorbed isn‘t great either. It‘s smell, which is a mix of chocolate and orange leaves me pretty indifferent.

Extra note: I think it‘s a bit funny that in all the beauty reviews I‘ve read of this balm, everyone marvels of how they apply it before bed – but nobody mentions that it‘s because the jar is just to heavy to carry around with you daytime, and therefore impossible to apply at other times (when you might need it – like during a night shift in my case).
