Alterna Caviar Infinite Color Hold Conditioner Review

s1896125-main-lhero

Pros:

I feel like I just walked out of a hairdresser salon after use.

Cons:

The price is pretty bananas.

More:

This conditioner went straight to my (heart) head. I very much like its lathery consistency, how it makes my hair feel (like I just came back from the hair dresser) and that my split ends feel much softer after use. This conditioner is also easy to massage into my crazy hair, which is a big plus.

Ever since I dyed my hair blonde (on a vimp, to distract people from my acne), I have been testing products for dyed hair and I must say this one is a favourite. I have dyed my hair before but not in such a dramatically different shade from my natural hair color. I must say blondes do have more fun (especially when one finds the right stuff to take care of that coloured hair).

Emma S Treatment Overnight Repair Mask Review

emmas-overnight-repair-mask-470x627

Pros:

Makes my skin very soft after use.

Cons:

Takes long time to get absorbed.

More:

Those of you who have followed this blog for a while, know that I‘m a fan of Emma S – the Swedish brand, making some great stuff for a pretty reasonable price. This mask is of high quality, but doesn‘t beat my old favourites from Emma S. – their cleansing oilcleansing oil, and enzyme peel face mask. The mask promises to make my skin beautiful in the morning and relieve signs of stress. Having just started a new job and with cold autumn coming up I thought this boost is just what I need, and that anything promising to reduce my fine lines (which are starting to show their ugly face) – is a go. My verdict is that it definitely adds loads of hydration, and makes my skin more smooth and luminous – making it nicer to wake up and look in the mirror. I‘m not sure about those signs of stress – but maybe it‘s because I simply don‘t have any (wishful thinking). What I don‘t like is that the mask takes a long time to get absorbed, so I kind of have to wander around my place for a while before heading to bed after application.

Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque Review

Pros:

My skin looks very “clear” the next day.

Cons:

Very tricky to define how skin “removed of pollution”, should look like.

More:

I have read many mixed reviews about this mask – and was a bit unsure if I should get it. But the smell was so fresh I couldn‘t resist (and yes I was travelling in the US where it was much cheaper then in Europe – so I convinced myself this was a “bargain”).

Basically this mask promises to get rid of signs of pollution – problem is that what those signs aren‘t really defined by Kiehls, or made totally clear by any chorus of scientists, at least not yet. I know, that the topic of pollutions effect on skin is starting to emerge in scientific reports and the new “it” topic (the new “sun can damage you skin”), and I‘m sure we will see many new products on the market targeting specifically the effect of pollution – but for now we don‘t really have a visible way of measuring how efficient these anti-pollution products are. If you want an overview of the main themes in reserach in this area right now, this The Guardian article is brilliant.

Conclusion  – this mask is sticky, but smells fresh, can be left on overnight and makes my skin look very clear the next morning. Does it protect my skin against future wrinkles and signs of me living in a polluted capital – don‘t know, but sure hope so!

Rudolph Care A Hint of Summer Self Tanning Drops Review

ahint_of_summer_webshop

Pros:

Gives my skin a great glow.

Cons:

The price.

More:

I have super beyond pale face – not matter how much time I spend in the sun – the sun never calls my number back (you get the deal). So after I returned home, after 3 weeks of summer vacations in Italy, and my skin looked like I‘ve spent it in a cellar – I decided that, something radical must happen!

Previously using self-tanning products has always turned into a disaster for me. So I had to go for a bulletproof plan (I could not afford more white shirts being ruined or striped legs). Having been a fan of Danish Rudolph Care for a few years – and had high hopes for these self tanning drops (the owner of the brand Andrea, always has the perfect glow so I figured I want that too). You use these drops in your night cream, I use one drop a day in the beginning and now I‘m on two drops. The drops mix easily into my night cream. The result – I have been getting a lot of compliments for my glow – considering I‘m pregnant (and feel like a water buffalo 90% of the time) – I‘m pretty thrilled! It looks very natural, and no stripes – which is a huge plus for me!

Smith’s Rose & Mandarin Lip Balm Review

s1647700-main-lhero

Pros:

Smells nice and has a pretty package.

Cons:

My lips are dry again about 10 seconds after I have applied this lip balm.

More:

I never learn – or how else would one explain an epic investment fail being made twice. I have the original rosebud lip balm – and I wasn‘t very impressed with its results – since it left my lips dry straight after application. And then I went on vacation to the US and of course I had forgotten to bring a lip balm – so I got this one – because let‘s face it – the package is soo pretty – and was disappointed yet again. It smells very nice, the package is pretty and the feel of it on my lips is pleasant too. But it just does nothing for my dry lips – no matter how much I re-apply it, my lips feel dry after a split second. I have tried to use it on dry skin too, but the result is the same – and its sticky to. A big NOOOO from me to this lip balm.

AESOP ROSE HAIR & SCALP MOISTURISING MASQUE Review

437a6744d0061ead2c35794e5e33d751

Pros:

Makes my scalp feel a bit less dry.

Cons:

Smells like fish.

More:

I was lured by Aesop by all beauty bloggers that can‘t stop obsessing about this brand. The fact that their shops are so stylish and everyone working in their stores are super nice makes it even more alluring – so when I needed a new hair mask I was pretty excited to splurge on this tube of luxury. Imagine my disappointment when it turned out that this mask was pretty useless. First and foremost it smells of dead fish – seriously it doesn’t smell of roses at all, but rather gives me a feeling of being at a fish market. I checked out some other reviews online and many people seem to be raving about the smell – maybe its just me, but seriously rose and fish don‘t smell alike – how could they get it so wrong that this super expensive hair mask can be associated with fish smell. Secondly having a lot of hair I was pretty disappointed by how much was needed per use, I literally used half the tube in a few times. Thirdly its pretty hard to apply since it really doesn’t detangle my hair which is what most masks and conditioners do. Ok now does it do miracles for my hair: nope not at all, but this mask doesn’t perform any miracles for me.

Revlon Be Fabulous End Repairing Serum Review

revlon-be-fabulous-hair-recovery-ends-repair-serum

Pros:

Makes my split ends look more “healthy” and taken care off.

Cons:

You need a lot per use of this serum.

More:

Split ends is one of my biggest hair issues (except a DIY blond dye which keeps me up at night), so I jump onto any product which promises to help! I have been using this serum both in wet and dry hair, with equally satisfying effect. The serum is absorbed very fast and makes my split ends more soft, hides away frizz in my hair and has a great overall effect. With overall effect I mean that my hair looks very sleek and much more healthy then it actually is (by actually is I count the time since I last visited a hairdresser for a trim).

L’Oréal Purify & Mattify Eucalyptus Clay Mask Review

sk30_3

Pros:

Removes all excess oil from my skin.

Cons:

The smell of eucalyptus is a bit too discreet for my taste.

More:

I got this mask after too much time in the sun – using all that sunscreen on my face not only caused my skin to break out but also made it oily. Normally I have dry skin so I kind of didn‘t know what to do – switching all my products – which target dry skin – to products for oily skin felt like a bit of an economic pit and unnecessary. Therefore I decided to invest in this mask – which is friendly to a low budget – and see what happened.

I like that the mask is easy to apply, and also pretty easy to remove (some mud masks can be hell). It did live up to its promise making my skin look much more matte, and made it feel extremely smooth and soft. About the cleansing part – even though I felt my skin was much softer, it was not by any means cleaner – my blackheads didn‘t disappear at all. So in that sense it doesn‘t do what it promises – but then again, I have never meet a mud mask that does. Overall I was very happy with the results – especially considering the price – now I want my dry skintype back please.

Alterna Bamboo Shine Luminous Shine Shampoo and Conditioner Review

alterna-bamboo-shine-shampoo-conditioner-duo-1000ml-500x500

Pros:

Makes my hair smooth and gives it a very nice texture

Cons:

The price

More:

Those of you who have followed this blog for a while, know that I‘m a junky for Bamboo hair care – especially their shampoos, conditioners and hair oil. They are a bit pricey – but nothing beats a good hair day – in terms of confidence. I actually heard a beauty blogger say that putting an effort into having your hair looking nice is much more boosting for your overall feeling of good, then having put effort into your make-up that day. And the more I think of it, the more I agree.

Back to this shampoo and conditioner – you need little per use, a bottle of their smaller sizes (not the one you see on the picture) lasts me for about 3 months. My hair feels very strong and healthy after use. What about the shine then – which is the biggest promise of these two bottles – well my hair turned pretty shiny after use. But nothing great out of proportion fantastic. Though since I feel that the overall effect on my hair is soo great I still love these two. Big minus – their price.
