L:A Bruket Sea Salt Scrub Sage / Rosemary / Lavender Review

063_sea_salt_scrub_sage_rosemary_lavender_350ml_1024x1024

Pros:

Contains a lot of oil which makes my skin very soft after use – no need to use a body oil or body lotion.

Cons:

The scrub could be “rougher” on my skin (I like my skin to hurt a bit after a proper scrub).

More:

Those of you whom have followed us for a while know about our L:A Bruket obsession and that we can‘t get enough of these Swedish good ingredients beauty products which make us feel like a zillion (and like queens of all things natural obviously). This time we have gotton our hands on the Lavender/ Sage / Rosemary body scrub and here are our thoughts: the scrub is made of fine salt, it smells delicious mainly of rosemary and leaves our skin very smooth. The salt is drained in oil so our skin feels very hydrated and supersoft after use – which is great since most scrubs leave you itchy and in immediate need of body lotion / body oil. Negatives: the scrub could have contained bigger salt grains in order for one to really feel a more “rough” scrub.

Best Body Lotions for Dry Skin

gisele-bundchen-legs-legs-84f61e770214d328b4a2f38ab9884a7c-large-1484626

This time of the year my legs are dying due to dryness and lack of vitamin D – and all I want is to like Gisele in the picture above. Blogging about beauty for two years has led me through trying tons of lotions and potions, and I have compiled a small list of the best lotions to make you forget of dry skin and getting one step closer to those Gisele – legs (minus the rest of her craziness of course).

1.This Clarins body lotion is my absolute favourite (read review here). I buy it every year (no matter how many lotions I already have at home) – and it never lets me down – it sinks in fast, smells pleasant and most importantly – it makes my skin super soft, even when its beyond dry.

2. Nivea is a favourite of mine: a reliable budget friend I use when my skin needs some extra extra extra hydration – where I don‘t feel uncomfortable wrapping my skin in double layers before I go to bed. Read my full review of the Nivea body cream here.

3. In general I think that Dove makes pretty decent things – they smell nice, have a good quality and the price point is satisfying – I got my hands of this Dove body lotion by chance and was pleasantly surprised – it sinks in fast and makes my skin soooft. And the smell is not classic Dove so nobody will know that you are being on a budget.

4. Ok this list wouldn‘t be complete without some luxurious lotion – one of those that you kind of don‘t want to use because then you know it will make you run out of it – and you dread that – since you won‘t spent that money on it again. That lotion for me is this lily body lotion – smells of heaven and makes my bathroom feel like that of an old rich lady – but in a good way of course.

Hope you enjoy this list and feel free to share your favourites! /Mary

Emma S Warm Beach Body Wash Review

body-wash-270x360

Pros:

Smells of a summer beach – just like promised.

Cons:

Its price.

More:

This whole winter has been a looong longing for a summery and warm vacation – and finally its here (I‘m writing this post from sunny Florida yay – don‘t miss the layers). To help me getting through those cold days I‘ve read a few good books set in exotic places, watched too many episodes of Anthony Bourdains culinary adventures – but also used some body products whose smell of summer made me feel my bathroom was a beach. One of them was this Emma S shower gel  – which smells of coconut, sandelwood and fig. It lathers well and leaves a nice scent lingering on my skin and in the bathroom. And it doesn‘t dry out my skin – which I love. It‘s a bit pricey but one needs some luxuries sometimes and this is one of mine.

THE BEST AND WORST BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2016 – THE COMPLETE LIST

d6aa3d3610ac68e64741c200ad519a0b

Happy new year lovelies, we have made a small list of what we loved and worshipped this year:

The facial oil of this year that brought our face out of the winter darkness..

This is where we got out grapefruit fix from in 2016…

The splurge of the year – which was well worth it..

This body oil made our bathroom feel like a warm coconut beach vacation all year long

The lavender oil that puts us to bed like babies was a favourite during this sleep deprived year.

This serum made our year a biiiiit prettier

The budget product of the year was … look here.

The hair brush which became our favourite hair thing in 2016..

…but this one also did wonders to our hair.

And WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE (wasted our money on):

The powder from hell…

The face mask which did nothing of what it promised (see the full list of face masks we won‘t repurchase here).

The ecological lemongrass disappointment of 2016 goes to this shea body butter

This rose lip balm made us (and our wallet) very very sad.

The scrubb which robbed us and made no difference to out skin!

The Kiehl‘s disappointment of the year was this one.

The foundation that made us look beyond unnatural and was just not worth a penny of our hard earned salary.

Thank you for a great 2016 and we are looking forward to guide you through the beauty jungle for another marvellous year!

Moroccan Oil Dry Body Oil Review

Pros:

Easy to apply and gets absorbed quickly.

Cons:

Doesn‘t help the dries parts of my chicken skin.

More:

Well I am probably the last person on earth who hasn‘t tried the actual super hyped Moroccan hair oil (because I have my favourites and this time I‘m not cheating..maybe). But when I heard they started doing skin care I became rather curious..this is body oil has the same nice smell as the original argan hair oil, I love that it is easy to apply by just spraying and it gets absorbed super duper fast which is a big plus when one is in a hurry (always). You need very little per use which makes the bottle last forever which is another plus. Minus? The price and that it doesn‘t help on the driest parts of my chicken skin.

Nubian Heritage Shea Butter Infused with Lemongrass and Tea Tree Review

Pros:Smells lovely and makes my skin very soft.

Cons:

Takes ages to get absorbed and is pretty sticky.

More:

I found this shea butter through my favourite hippie style icon, and ordered one late night on amazon (online shopping is my worst enemy on late weekend nights when I pity myself). Usually I love “smaller” companies, and those who have followed this blog for a while, know that we often feature less known brands in order to promote entrepreneurship (rather then making the big ones even richer). This time I was pretty disappointed though. Reading from the Nubian website, the brand truly have a wonderful story (or a humble beginning as they chose to call it): starting out as street vendors on the street of Harlem, selling black soap, having no jobs after college..you get it, and it is a pretty story no doubt. But this shea butter is just not that bomb. Yes it smells really delicious, and leaves my skin super soft. But the consistency is of a frozen butter meaning you have to really dig in order to get something out of the jar, afterwards its a struggle getting it distributed on my skin evenly since it is so dense, and it takes ages to absorb and is very sticky. So it feels like a bit of an overpriced body butter which ruins all furniture with its stains since I never have the patience to wait around for it to get absorbed and leave sticky prints all over.

Emma S Warm Beach Body Oil Review

Pros:

Nice smell that makes you feel like you are heading to the beach, but still subtle enough for gloomy casual days in the city.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Those of you who have been following this blog for a while know that I‘m a big fan of Swedish Emma S (her cleansing oil is my favourite facial oil of all times). Hearing that Emma had released a new line I got curious – knowing that she made the best cleansing oil, I wanted to see what their body oil was like. I have an obsession for oils, that is no secret so I kind of consider myself being a expert. This body oil smells of vanilla, fig, coconut and (a tiny bit of) lemon. The fragrance is very subtle, but still lingers on my skin for a while. My skin doesn‘t get itchy after using this oil, something I have experienced in the past using other oil, and even though I‘ve been using this 125 ml bottle all summer I still have about 75% left. My skin also feels very hydrated after use. It dries in very fast which is a plus. Minus – the price.

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Wipped Body Butter

Pros:

Gets absorbed very fast and makes my skin very soft.

Cons:

When your boyfriend asks why you smell of butter you start questioning the smell of this body butter…

More:

I have been using this body butter half of the summer, and kind of loving it…that is until my boyfriend leaned over one morning and asked “how come you already smell of butter?” (referring to my good appetite, I never say no to a croissant on vacation). This body butter has a very rich texture, smells a mix of vanilla and sun lotion, sinks in very fast and makes my skin silky smooth and you need little per use. You decide if you like the smell (my boyfriend doesn‘t).

The Best Oils For Face and Body List

Having a creepy and unhealthy (but ooh soo fabulous) and addictive relationship with oils I‘ve been going pretty wild these past years and tried to purchase everything for my body and face in oil form. Here is my top list:

  1. Best hair oil ever is this one – affordable and bottle last for a year at least, the only thing that helps when your hair is dying for a cut.
  2.  My favourite body oil smells of lavender, great before bed for a calming effect both for my soul and my legs (whom are scared they will never see the day light due to their chicken skin look).
  3. Cleansing your face with oil became a dream with this cleansing oil, it smells of childhood and the bottle last for many months plus I love to support a good entrepreneur.
  4. Despite its fishy smell I love love love what this oil does for my face during the winter.
  5. The best budget oil out there – almost free and makes you soft like a baby.
  6. This French shower oil is a true treat.

I would like to say I haven‘t meet an oil I didn‘t like but that would be a big fat lie – don‘t try this oil at home beauties.
