Emma S Body Wash Suger Lime Review

body-wash-sugar-lime-hemsidan-470x627

Pros:

Smells delicious – fresh but sweet at the same time.

Cons:

You need a lot per use…

More:

If I could choose one fragrance to follow me for the rest of my time around, it would be lime. I have an unhealthy obsession with it – but have never actually tried any skincare things containing lime.  This soap contains – beside lime – “creamy caramel” and “soft vanilla” – which on first take seems a bit over the top, or just a bit too sweet. But it actually turns out perfectly, sweet but very fresh, so each time I use this soap in the shower feels like a true treat leaving my skin very soft. A minus for me, is that one needs a lot per use – and I really dont want this bottle to end. Buying expensive soaps is a bit of a “thing” nowadays (an Aesop soap is the new Diptique candle one might argue..), and honestly after having a shower with this soap (which transforms me to thinking I‘m in Tulum on my way out for a swim and mojito) I think the experience it worth every penny.

ACO Sun Mousse Active Spf 30 Review

medium_aco-sun-mousse-active-spf30-26775

Pros:

Odourless.

Cons:

Makes ones skin very sticky after application.

More:

My mum gave me this sunscreen mousse before I went on vacation. Thank god mum doesn‘t read my blog cause I have to honestly say – this mousse is pretty darn bad. It does protect one from the sunny, but your skin feels beyond sticky and one just gets uncomfortable. First and foremost, the texture of this mousse is a bit like its supposed to be put in your hair and not on your body (its not a “soft” mousse – if that expression makes any sense). If you try to apply it on dry skin you will never be able to distribute it evenly – so you have to first go in the water. Thirdly – the cream never gets properly absorbed so you walk around all sticky – a major no for the beach. Therefore I will never ever buy this mousse again (sorry mum!). It also gets a low rating in the value for money category since its hard to evaluate how much mousse you need and end up getting to much per spritz.

Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Dry Oil Spf 12 Review

450

Pros:

Very water resistant.

Cons:

Hard to apply evenly.

More:

We are continuing this months theme of sunscreens (please summer cant you come sooner?). I got this sunscreen in the US for a fairly ok price. The first half of the spray bottle I used up in a few days since its very unpractical and you get way more then you wanted. So basically its a very unpractical bottle and the oil is hard to apply, so you use way to much per use – and end up feeling pretty “oiled up” and uncomfortable – which is what one fears when buying anything with the words “oil” and “sun” in it. The oil smells great of coconut, which is fantastic if you are into that – but dont expect your man to be intersted in using this one (I never meet one who wants to smell like a coconut dream really).

The only thing I really like about this oil is that its water resistant (80 minutes in water) and didn‘t make my face break out in pimples (which many oils do). The bottle lasted me for about 1,5 weeks of everyday use.

Banana Boat Sport Sunscreen SPF 15 Review

e9ee7224-db93-4e87-b9ce-2cf24189faf7_1-f2619dad6227636dd4cec60117e2cb38

Pros:

Feels super light on my skin.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Continuing this months theme of reviews of sunscreen…this is probably my favourite sun screen ever!!! In general I hate using sunscreens (but I do of course) – I always feel like running into a shower after I spray myself with these sweet smelling oils and potions. This sunscreen was completely different though. It feels superlight, gets absorbed instantly and the scent is very discreet (very unisex). Doesn‘t stain my close and you can actually wear it outside of the beach and not feel like your skin is made of coconut glue. Its price is a bit high – at least where I got it (in Anguilla – and island where everybody is rich and over 60), so I don‘t actually know in which countries it is sold normally and how much it costs if its not imported from far far away.

ACO MOISTURISING SUN LOTION SPF 30 Review

aco-sun-lotion-300ml-bigsize

Pros:

After using this lotion I dont need to use a body lotion – it works like a two in one.

Cons:

This lotion takes a while to get absorbed.

More:

Lovely readers, summer is just around the corner and therefore this month is all about the sun and how you protect yourself from it. Therefore we will try to squeeze in as many reviews of sun lotions as possible. How did she manage to review so many sun lotions living in Scandinavia you ask ? Because it certainly ain‘t summer there yet (and you are completely right about that! Some years the summer doesn‘t really show up here at all and you have to spend July under an umbrella pretending that rain is nice too). Well – i took a small vacation in January this year – two months to be precise – and had plenty of opportuneties to review all my yays and neeeeeeis of the sun protection creams I went through. So here we go: this lotion gives good protection against the sun, it also works as a body lotion so one doesn‘t have to apply that since your skin is baby soft after a day at the beach with this sun lotion. A bottle also lasts long which is a plus and price is budget friendly. What is the minus? It takes a while to get absorbed and therefore one may feel a bit sticky – a very unwelcome feeling on the beach.

The best budget beauty products – the complete list

pg-116-june-issue-kate-moss-vogue-29apr13-patrick-demarchelier_b_1080x720

We think that beauty should be simple – one doesn‘t have to spend tons of money to look pretty and feel happy. We all know that the best advice to look and feel splendid are free – tons of sleep, a lot of water and keeping a happy mind. But of course we are no strangers to using a little help – and since we rather spend our money on lattes and pretty dresses we wanted to share our list of budget products that makes us feel like a million bucks for a lot less…

  1. Smooth skin is number one for me personally and though I like expensive lotions and potions I always keep coming back to my favourite budget oilbaby oil – makes your skin fantastically smooth and costs next to nothing (pssst apparently sweet almond oil from the baby department at the french pharmacies is a well kept secret of french beauty..).
  2. If you are one of those girls (or boys) who are into a polished look a good hair brush is a must – the HH Simonsen wet brush – saved my hair and I have been using it ever since. Being ridiculously cheap (around 15 dollars, the cost – per – use is pretty sweet) it is one of my best budget buys EVER.
  3. Since happiness is a must for beauty – in our opinion – at least if you want that glowing  fantastic va-va-voom beauty. I get that from many things in life but one of the is a good relaxing shower (repeat after me: its the small things in life…) – and the Le Petit Marseilles Miel de Lavande shower cream – is my favourite shower gel. This one is hard to find outside of France, costs next to nothing (3 dollars), makes my skin super soft but best of all – smells fantastic of lavendar.
  4. For me a great hair oil is a staple and the Orofluido hair oil – has saved my dry hair. It costs around 20 dollars, but a 100 ml bottle lasted me for about 2,5 years so I still consider it a great investment.
  5. Finally even when on a budget an extra a bit unnecessary but oh so indulgent beauty product can make your bathroom feel a bit more extravagant – that one product for me has been  my bottle of Avene face water – which has stayed with me for the past 2 years. Yes it feels a bit stupid to pay for water, but my bottle has lasted me for over 2 years and god does it feel great to splash ones face with some thermal water and march out to meet the day ahead.

L:A Bruket Sea Salt Scrub Sage / Rosemary / Lavender Review

063_sea_salt_scrub_sage_rosemary_lavender_350ml_1024x1024

Pros:

Contains a lot of oil which makes my skin very soft after use – no need to use a body oil or body lotion.

Cons:

The scrub could be “rougher” on my skin (I like my skin to hurt a bit after a proper scrub).

More:

Those of you whom have followed us for a while know about our L:A Bruket obsession and that we can‘t get enough of these Swedish good ingredients beauty products which make us feel like a zillion (and like queens of all things natural obviously). This time we have gotton our hands on the Lavender/ Sage / Rosemary body scrub and here are our thoughts: the scrub is made of fine salt, it smells delicious mainly of rosemary and leaves our skin very smooth. The salt is drained in oil so our skin feels very hydrated and supersoft after use – which is great since most scrubs leave you itchy and in immediate need of body lotion / body oil. Negatives: the scrub could have contained bigger salt grains in order for one to really feel a more “rough” scrub.

Best Body Lotions for Dry Skin

gisele-bundchen-legs-legs-84f61e770214d328b4a2f38ab9884a7c-large-1484626

This time of the year my legs are dying due to dryness and lack of vitamin D – and all I want is to like Gisele in the picture above. Blogging about beauty for two years has led me through trying tons of lotions and potions, and I have compiled a small list of the best lotions to make you forget of dry skin and getting one step closer to those Gisele – legs (minus the rest of her craziness of course).

1.This Clarins body lotion is my absolute favourite (read review here). I buy it every year (no matter how many lotions I already have at home) – and it never lets me down – it sinks in fast, smells pleasant and most importantly – it makes my skin super soft, even when its beyond dry.

2. Nivea is a favourite of mine: a reliable budget friend I use when my skin needs some extra extra extra hydration – where I don‘t feel uncomfortable wrapping my skin in double layers before I go to bed. Read my full review of the Nivea body cream here.

3. In general I think that Dove makes pretty decent things – they smell nice, have a good quality and the price point is satisfying – I got my hands of this Dove body lotion by chance and was pleasantly surprised – it sinks in fast and makes my skin soooft. And the smell is not classic Dove so nobody will know that you are being on a budget.

4. Ok this list wouldn‘t be complete without some luxurious lotion – one of those that you kind of don‘t want to use because then you know it will make you run out of it – and you dread that – since you won‘t spent that money on it again. That lotion for me is this lily body lotion – smells of heaven and makes my bathroom feel like that of an old rich lady – but in a good way of course.

Hope you enjoy this list and feel free to share your favourites! /Mary

Emma S Warm Beach Body Wash Review

body-wash-270x360

Pros:

Smells of a summer beach – just like promised.

Cons:

Its price.

More:

This whole winter has been a looong longing for a summery and warm vacation – and finally its here (I‘m writing this post from sunny Florida yay – don‘t miss the layers). To help me getting through those cold days I‘ve read a few good books set in exotic places, watched too many episodes of Anthony Bourdains culinary adventures – but also used some body products whose smell of summer made me feel my bathroom was a beach. One of them was this Emma S shower gel  – which smells of coconut, sandelwood and fig. It lathers well and leaves a nice scent lingering on my skin and in the bathroom. And it doesn‘t dry out my skin – which I love. It‘s a bit pricey but one needs some luxuries sometimes and this is one of mine.
