ACO Stay Soft Lips Review

original

Pros:

The package is light and easy to take with you everywhere (like in the pockets of my hospital uniforms).

Cons:

Doesn‘t make my lips feel hydrated for a full 24 hours – like promised.

More:

My lips have been suffering from being back in this cold climate after enjoying two full months of sunshine..This lip gloss/lip balm makes my lips feel very hydrated, has a nice consistency (though it is boarding to sticky a bit) and gives a nice shine – but still with a natural look. The product promises to make your lips soft for 24 hours – I would say 3-4 hours would be more accurate.

Eos Shimmer Sheer Pink Lip Balm Review

eos-shimmer-lip-balm-pink-pearl-open

Pros:

Soo easy to apply evenly.

Cons:

My lips are dry again one hour after use.

More:

After being into heavy needs a browns this winter I‘m feeling like being Ms Spring  – all easy and floating in pastels and light blue nails ( ohh that nice Chanel Coco blue shade…) – and of course I want my lips to be pink with that.

This is my first Eos lip balm and I‘m now a fan – for a person whom usually struggles to put on any lip make-up evenly this one was very very easy to apply due to its sphere shape. It also feels very soft and hydrating on my lips without being sticky (shea butter and jojaba oil). And the price is fair. I like that you can decide on how much pink you want on your lips by layering this balm, without it feeling like you are wearing teater make-up.

Cons: my lips feel dry again about an hour after use.

Ok guys I‘m gone run out into friday in my floating dress smelling of roses with pinks lips and freshly manicured nails…just kidding I‘m heading to a night shift. Have a lovely friday you all!

Review of Smith’s Rosebud Salve

Pros:

Nice sleek packaging.

Cons:

Doesn‘t really help my dry lips.

More:

I‘m probably the last person on earth to try this balm, since these are practically available in Siberia by now. I got this balm from a friend, and was thrilled since the package is lovely in a cool way and the balm smells delicious. Before writing this review I decided to do some research about this balm, reading the history of Dr. Smith was a bit like reading a book missing half the pages, anyways, what I learned is that this man who was a teacher, all of a sudden was a “Dr.” owning a pharmacy, and that he loved going to miss America pageants (random facts – I‘m sorry its the worst biography I‘ve ever read). Back to the balm – is it really that great? NOO. It is fine, but no miracle to my dry lips, which remain dry after several applications. Though it feels ok pleasant on my lips, it is pretty sticky and doesn‘t really get absorbed. Also sticking your fingers into this balm is unhygienic. Doesn‘t perform any miracles on dry skin either.

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm Review

Pros:

Has an ok creamy texture.

Cons:

My lips are dry again within 5 minutes after I have applied this balm.

More:

This lip balm is infused with shea butter, rose hip, pomegranate and vitamin E..so far, so good right? It sounds like all the right ingredients are in it to make your lips soft and desirable..except this lip balm really didn‘t live up to anything. Within 5 minutes after application of this balm my lips are cracked and dry again. Seriously it is as if I haven‘t applied anything at all to them. The texture of the balm is OK: a bit too oily for my taste, and soo stale you have to apply the balm with your fingers, even though the package is a tube. The balm needs to be re-applied quit often and gives your lips a vague shine. Basically this was a big disappointment and I want my money back!

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Color Balm Review (Shade 8 Graped Up)

clq_749k14_402x464

Pros:

Soft and moisturising.

Cons:

Does not stay on for too long.

More:

Embarrassingly enough (we are not supposed to be effected by commercial to shop – and admit…) I bought this lipstick after seeing a Clinique add a few years ago. Since I really like this one, I keep on re-purchasing it. What I like – it is very soft and easy to apply. My lips feel very moisturised and it applies evenly. It has a bit of gloss in its texture but it’s very discreet. The package feels very luxurious too. The minuses – it could be replaced by a budget version, since it does not stay on for too long.

Maria Åkerberg Lipstick in the color of Valentine Review

Lip Care Colour Valentine

Pros:

Stays on for long.

Cons:

You need to use a balm to make it look well on your lips.

More:

I am doing a bit of an 80s thing with my lips right now, and this is how I came across this lipstick from Swedish Maria Åkerberg (read a previous review here). Nothing says 80s and “it‘s spring soon” as a bright nice pink on your lips. I like this color being even though it is very very pink it is still pretty subtle and elegant. This lipstick is one of those “unsoft” types aka you need to use a balm before you put it on, otherwise it won‘t stay on well. What I like is that it stay on well and for a long time. I have previously written about my admiration for Maria – being a beauty entrepreneur she is truly inspiring and I admire all the jobs and opportunities she has created for herself on the nordic beauty market.

Review of Maria Åkerberg Paris Lip Gloss

Pros:

Gives a nice subtle color and a lot of gloss.

Cons:

If lips dry it does not moisturise.

More:

I am a fan of Swedish Maria Åkerberg, not only because I have a feeling of that she created a whole lot of new job opportunities in her small hometown Varberg, but also because her products are developed based on aroma- and phytotheraphy. I very much like the idea of that her stuff are as natural as possible and that they are not tested on animals. We need more cool women going their own way in the beauty industry creating exciting brands which go their own way.

Now what do I think about this lip gloss: frankly I am more of a lipstick girl, but right now I am having a real glam moment, and wanted my lips to look all shiny like a 90s popstar. This gloss gives my lips a very subtle color, but a lot of gloss. It is a nice top up on lipstick, since it enhances the color and draws more attention to the lips. So for how long does it last? About 2 hours, and when the gloss disappears the color is still there. If your lips are already dry this gloss will not help but actually make them even drier.

Review of L’occitane cherry blossom lip balm

Pros:

Makes my lips soft and smells great.

Cons:

Have to re-apply every third or fourth hour.

More:

What caught me about this lip balm was the sweet package and the nice smell. I have never used anything from L’occitane before so had no expectations.  It smells really sweet and my lips feel very soft. The smell is very luxurious and my boyfriend likes the smell A LOT (more kisses for me makes using this lip balm into an action of postive reinforcement). But you have to re-apply it every third or fourth hour in order to keep your boyfriend to wanting to kiss you..and your lips to stay soft. It also adds a very subtile gloss.

Försvarets Hudsalva Review

Pros:

Cheap and great for all dry areas on your body.

Cons:

Mostly available at swedish pharmacies. It costs about 3 dollars there, so please do not buy this at french Colette for 10!!

More:

Tired of my local pharmacies, I headed over to Sweden for some serious shopping. Here I found a long lost friend (and a favourite of my beauty guru grandmother) the Försvarets hudsalva, roughly translated into skin ointment of the army. So what is it then? It’s a soft stick made of tallow and peanut oil, first manufactured by request from the swedish army, wanting a remedy against blisters for their soldiers.

Today its a swedish classic, having its own wikipedia page. I consider it a great budget alternative (it costs around 3 dollars and lasts for months) to lip balm, which can come in handy when you have rough skin patches and also when out in cold temperatures for a long time. It works good for me and I see a result when applying it to the rest of my skin.
