Dior Capture Totale DreamSkin Advanced Skin Corrector Review

splurges20dior20capture20totale20dreamskin20perfect20skin20creatorPros:

Gives my skin an amazing glow.

Cons:

The price is pretty crazy for a cream – some people pay this much – I usually don‘t.

More:

This very expensive story started with a sample – I wanted to try something else but my favourite Beauty Flash Balm – which has been my go-to for the past 5 years. I took the sample with me when visiting my grandparents – and my grandmother – who is very sensible with money  gasped “buy it!” when she saw my skin. I told her about the price and she was still “buy it!”. So I did, and now my skin looks retouched whenever I feel like it.

The cream is very light on my skin – usually I can‘t pile on too many products without getting a rash – but I‘ve been using it on top of my day cream and serum without a problem. My skin gets a glow and looks a bit retouched and luminous. I have noticed and so have those around me. Is it better then the beauty flash balm? I actually think so – because after many years of using the flash balm I stopped seeing any effect – with this cream I see a lot of it – and instantly. I simply use it as a shield against the world on bad days.

About the price: I got the refill package – which is cheaper – and yes, you can see that it‘s a refill – but I‘m pretty indifferent to that.

Emma S Cleansing Facial Wash Review

34932

Pros:

Makes my skin feel very fresh and cleanses well – removes all residue of make-up.

Cons:

Can be a bit hard to wash off.

More:

I‘m not a big fan of those wise words pages in fashion magazines: be a strong woman, be independent, be kind blah blah blah. It‘s usually just common sense but in expensive print with a flashy bag commercial next to it. But the other day I came by an interview with Emma S where she was sharing her words of wisdom – and what struck be about her is that she seemed so incredible…sane. Her words were very simple but still resonated with the kind of person I aspire to be (working on it): never speak poorly of other people, don‘t worry so much, always assume the best about others. The only thing I didn‘t agree with was Emma‘s thought on that nothing interesting happens at a party after 2 in the morning…I don‘t agree – usually that‘s when the table dancing begins….So I‘ll skip that one. Back to my review then.

My thoughts on this facial wash: It has a creamy texture, removes all my make-up residue very well and leaves my skin feeling very fresh. I have noticed I‘ve had less break-outs and black spots after I started using this one.  The bottle lasts for a few months which is another positive. Negatives? Can be a bit hard to remove, because it‘s a bit thick.

CLARINS SOS HYDRA MASK REVIEW

product_v1_x1

Pros:

Gives my hydration.

Cons:

…but not enough for my skin.

More:

This mask gives hydrating overnight masks a bad reputation – it makes me want to quit regular masks all together and go over so sheets – and never go back. Its and overnight mask (as you might have figured), and is supposed to give you instant overnight hydration. I have used it during the past months – so my skin had actually gotten over the extreme winter dryness and was getting back on track – so I didn‘t need “that much” hydration -and still I was let down.

The mask is very light in texture, gets absorbed pretty easily and gives ok moisture, but the next day after use the previous evening my skin looks just “ok” – not extra overly hydrated, plumb or bright in any way. I could basically have used a fat cream getting the same effect – no difference.

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Replenishing Cleansing Oil Review

66620

Pros:

A bottle lasts ages (about 7 months).

Cons:

The texture is pretty boring…

More:

This is a pretty thick oil, and I prefer them a bit more silky, luxurious so to speak…this oil just feels like you are pouring petrolium in your face. I‘m used to cleansing oils which feel like the biggest luxury and treat to use (like this one), didn‘t feel that way about this oil. It cleans my face ok, but just feels very basic. Also my pores have been more clogged then usual after I started using this oil, and I can‘t help but wonder – is it the oils fault??

The only plus is that the bottle lasts for ages and that my skin feels ok hydrated after use. This oil is part of the ceramide line, I love the Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules (I use them when I have a real dry skin emergency) and this facial cleanser just really didn‘t live up to that standard to goodness.

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment Review

i-022313-flashmud-brightening-treatment-1-940

Pros:

A good quick fix for dull skin.

Cons:

Not any “WOW” factor at all.

More:

This is my first GlamGlow product – I have occasionally passed their stand at Sephora – but not given it much thought. But after my Himalayan charcoal mask ran out I decided to give mud another go – even though I‘m a big sceptic. This mask is packed with ingredients I can‘t even pronounce – all promising the same things – bright, light and luminous skin.

My verdict: the mask dries in fast, which is practical, you only need to leave it on for about 10 minutes and the effect is pretty instant. I do think my skin looks very bright after use – and use this mask as a quick fix before heading out. Is it some kind of miracle that totally changed the texture and look of my skin? Absolutely not. It‘s good but not amazing – so I won‘t repurchase it again.

Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner Review

cucumber_herbal_alcohol_free_toner_3700194711696_500ml

Pros:

Doesn‘t dry out my skin.

Cons:

No calming effect on my skin.

More:

After noticing that the skin toner I was using made my skin dry – I wanted to upgrade and went for an alcohol free version. I think in general stuff from Kiehl‘s are of uneven quality – either they are a life-saver (their olive oil hair mask and cilantro face mask) or unacceptably overpriced and have no effect what so ever (their hand cream). I happened to be travelling in the US – where the Kiehl‘s prices are ok compared to the US – so I decided to indulge. I have used up the 500 ml bottle – which has lasted around 8 months – and I still really have no opinion of this toner. And I think it really says it all.

I remember my first tonic – seeing how much dirt came off my face was a religious experience – so I take this step in my cleansing routine seriously. This toner didn‘t dry out my skin, and has been efficiently removing my make-up residue. The product description promises a complete zen moment: calming, soothing, balancing effects… you name it they say it. I haven‘t noticed any soothing effects on my skin (I still break-out just as frequently) and my black-heads are there too. So basically nothing special at all, will not re-purchase and I expected more from Kiehl‘s!

Philosophy Renewed Hope In a Jar Moisturiser Review

i-020582-renewed-hope-day-moisturiser-60ml-1-940

Pros:

The texture of the cream is smooth and silky, souffle like just as described.

Cons:

This is more of a summer moisturiser not giving enough of hydration to dry skin in rough climates.

More:

I actually won this moisturiser in a give-away on one of my favourite beauty bloggers Madeleine loves . I have picked up the hype surrounding this cream from here and there, but never actually tried anything from Philosophy. This cream is for all skin types – which can be a bit worrying (oily and dry skin have extremely different needs in my head no?). I have combined skin (oily T-zone, dry rest of the face) and this cream works good for me during the “not too cold” months and when I use a hydrating serum. I like the souffle like texture which is both oily and light (though a bit separated, watery like ), that it gets absorbed quick and that my skin feels hydrated after use. But this is no miracle cream, and the price is outrageous for what you get. A jar is just unhygienic too. The promise of demise signs of ageing and “rough” texture – I‘m not really sure if I‘ve seen any of that, my skin is well-hydrated but that is all.

Also, after I started using this cream my skin has felt more clogged, and I‘ve had more blackheads then usual – I‘m not sure if it‘s due to my diet, other parts of my routine or if it‘s the cream though.

Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Review

PSLRC_VitaminC_50ml

Pros:

The packages lasts for many months.

Cons:

No visible effects what so ever.

More:

I‘ve used this serum for about 10 months now (on and off, during the summer months I was scared to get some kind of reaction due to the vitamin C in the serum and therefore took a break) – and I still don‘t get it. I bought this serum after a long flight when my skin looked super dehydrated (before I started using sheets on flights, now that problem is solved) and I counted my wrinkles and got scared. I‘m 29 and this serum was my first anti-ageing product. When I was leaving the store the girl who just sold me this serum yelled out “btw you have to use sunscreen when you use that serum” – which was a bummer since I don‘t own any creams with sunscreen, so I had to purchase that too. I guess most beauty bloggers know that vitamin C requires you to use sunscreen, I‘m just not one of them. This serum is supposed to :

  • Visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, boosts skin radiance and improves texture
  • Helps visibly minimize pores over time for smoother skin

So what is my verdict after these 10 months of use: I‘m clueless. It doesn‘t really provide my skin with any hydration, but gives me a tickling, burning sensation upon application – making my brain think that there are some active ingredients in it, and that it‘s “working” on removing my wrinkles.  Removing wrinkles is an impossible task, unless your name is botox, so actually I see – not much difference. And no extra glow either. So I‘m pretty disappointed. The only positive is that a package lasts for long but that‘s all. Won‘t repurchase this one.

Bioré Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips Review

b78b0b33-2768-4002-ae7a-3cfe9bf11c46-psd-w480

Pros:

Easy to use.

Cons:

Not sure that any black-heads really came “out/off”.

More:

It was a real struggle getting hold of these stripes – I got them shipped from Amazon to my friends hotel in New York, where he had to sweat to find the package (in their tiny mail room) – and then take it back to Europe for me. The shipping costs for these is just to crazy for Europe. Why did I get obsessed to try these stripes? Well, I read about them in my favourite UK magazine Grazia  which promised they would get all that greasy off my poor nose. Verdict: the stripes are easy to apply, and they stay on (I only used them on my nose). What about the grease removal? Well I‘m not quite sure, after removing the stripe it has some black spots on it, but I‘m not sure if the stripe actually removed some thin hairs from my nose, rather then my actual blackheads (and I have plenty of them to remove). No doubt it removed some dirt and grease – especially the small black heads on the side of my nostrils. The stripes work especially (surprisingly) well if you use them after a steamy shower when your pores open up. But after using it, my nose is still full of black spots. Final verdict: NO – I haven‘t found my remedy against blackheads and I‘m still locking. Please help.
