DIOR HYDRA LIFE JELLY SLEEPING MASK REVIEW

download

Pros:

Makes my skin more hydrated after use.

Cons:

No glow or radiance as promised.

More:

Honestly I like my budget face masks (Origins Drink Up Intense is my go to budget product nr 1 – I know some may say it‘s not that of a budget price tag – but the price per use is very budget friendly…) but sometimes I like to really splurge. And this Dior mask is one of those big splurges. I have to admit, that I love anything with a “jelly” like consistency which is why I chose this one. Jelly just makes me think of “refresh” and hydration bomb term. I thought maybe this mask would replace my new and very expensive habit of sheet masks…but It didn‘t. The mask is applied overnight, it gets absorbed very fast, and actually feels just like a “regular” cream on my face.

I kind of assumed my skin would be as all things promised by this mask – glowing, refreshed, softened, radiant…the verdict is: no it wasn‘t. This mask is fine – my skin feels ok hydrated the next day. But that is really it. No big “wow” or glow or radiance or anything else. I really feel I was cheated and this mask is absolutely not worth its price.

I haven‘t really used that many products from Dior and after this mask I know that I won‘t.

Estee Lauder DayWear Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Sheer Tint Release Moisturizer Review

493041

Pros:

Evens out my skin tone.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

I chose this tinted moisturiser after trying out a few others as samples…so this one is my chosen one (and it sure is not expensive). First and foremost, you need a lot per use. I use this moisturiser as a light version of a foundation, layering it on top of my day cream. It gives my skin a very nice and even tone. I have rosacea (mild) and it doesn‘t even out the redness on my face. Neither do I see that my skin gets more glow or radiance after the use of this moisturiser. So overall this is an expensive cream, that evens out your skin tone but doesn‘t give much hydration and since you need a lot per use its not cost-per-use efficient at all.

Dior Diorskin Forever Compact Review

item_XL_10117574_12512437

Pros:

No need for touch-ups throughout the day.

Cons:

Expensive.

More:

This the oily acne skin girl sharing with you again (see my previous reviews here and here). First and foremost, the colours in this palette (010 Im fair skinned) has a yellow beige tone rather then pink which makes ones skin look more natural when using the powder. This is the only powder which stays on  during the whole day without need for touch-ups. It promises shine reduction and a matte finish – and it really keeps it promise. It really absorbs oil from my face. The negatives – expensive and you can buy it refill – but is hard to get your hands on.

Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner Review

cucumber_herbal_alcohol_free_toner_3700194711696_500ml

Pros:

Doesn‘t dry out my skin.

Cons:

No calming effect on my skin.

More:

After noticing that the skin toner I was using made my skin dry – I wanted to upgrade and went for an alcohol free version. I think in general stuff from Kiehl‘s are of uneven quality – either they are a life-saver (their olive oil hair mask and cilantro face mask) or unacceptably overpriced and have no effect what so ever (their hand cream). I happened to be travelling in the US – where the Kiehl‘s prices are ok compared to the US – so I decided to indulge. I have used up the 500 ml bottle – which has lasted around 8 months – and I still really have no opinion of this toner. And I think it really says it all.

I remember my first tonic – seeing how much dirt came off my face was a religious experience – so I take this step in my cleansing routine seriously. This toner didn‘t dry out my skin, and has been efficiently removing my make-up residue. The product description promises a complete zen moment: calming, soothing, balancing effects… you name it they say it. I haven‘t noticed any soothing effects on my skin (I still break-out just as frequently) and my black-heads are there too. So basically nothing special at all, will not re-purchase and I expected more from Kiehl‘s!

Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate Review

PSLRC_VitaminC_50ml

Pros:

The packages lasts for many months.

Cons:

No visible effects what so ever.

More:

I‘ve used this serum for about 10 months now (on and off, during the summer months I was scared to get some kind of reaction due to the vitamin C in the serum and therefore took a break) – and I still don‘t get it. I bought this serum after a long flight when my skin looked super dehydrated (before I started using sheets on flights, now that problem is solved) and I counted my wrinkles and got scared. I‘m 29 and this serum was my first anti-ageing product. When I was leaving the store the girl who just sold me this serum yelled out “btw you have to use sunscreen when you use that serum” – which was a bummer since I don‘t own any creams with sunscreen, so I had to purchase that too. I guess most beauty bloggers know that vitamin C requires you to use sunscreen, I‘m just not one of them. This serum is supposed to :

  • Visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, boosts skin radiance and improves texture
  • Helps visibly minimize pores over time for smoother skin

So what is my verdict after these 10 months of use: I‘m clueless. It doesn‘t really provide my skin with any hydration, but gives me a tickling, burning sensation upon application – making my brain think that there are some active ingredients in it, and that it‘s “working” on removing my wrinkles.  Removing wrinkles is an impossible task, unless your name is botox, so actually I see – not much difference. And no extra glow either. So I‘m pretty disappointed. The only positive is that a package lasts for long but that‘s all. Won‘t repurchase this one.

DanishSkinCare Clean Skin Face Wash Review

danish-skin-care-clean-skin-face-wash-mini

Pros:

Doesn‘t contain any skin irritating ingredients.

Cons:

The price is more in the expensive end…

More:

We have previously raved about the Smooth Skin Treatment from DanishSkinCare, and have continued using their products ever since discovering that they could help our blackheads go away (blackheads are my skins worst enemy).

This facial cleanser is very gentle on my skin. Doesn‘t make it dry and most importantly I trust its list of ingredients – that it doesn‘t contain anything that will cause my skin to break out or blemish out (I often get blemishes out of nowhere they tend to disappear in a few hours but have had less of them after I started using this face wash). And most importantly : its a very efficient face wash: you need a little per use, and it removes my make-up very well. And after starting to experiment with sun powder I rely heavily on having a good cleanser so that I look fresh in the morning, not wearing pieces of old make-up.

Ole Henriksen Berry Nurturing Gel Mask Review

s1910751-main-hero

Pros:

Actually the price – for once – since you need so little per use, this jar can last you for a year or more.

Cons:

Doesn‘t provide “deep hydration” – but rather has a brightening effect, which not always is enough in a rough winter climate.

More:

I don‘t have much experience with Danish Ole Henriksen products, but I like his smiley face and eternal sunshine optimism. Plus my friends use Ole and his partner as an exemple when he forces me to make plans weeks in advance (apparently Ole and his partner use their calendar to map out their romantic gatherings which is foreign to a spontaneous time anarchist like myself). Anyways – this mask makes me feel like I‘m in a spa – it smells lovely of lavender and despite being a gel, is not sticky at all. The effect: my skin feels refreshed and brightened after use, and my skin very smooth. Minus: if you need deep hydration during the cold months this is not sufficient.

REVLON PROFESSIONAL BE FABULOUS ANTI AGE SERUM REVIEW

REPR0060H_1_L

Pros:

Easy to apply due to the pipette.

Cons:

Doesn‘t result in that much extra shine (which was promised…)

More:

This serum fights the visible signs of ageing – what precisely that is I‘m not sure – I don‘t think it can fight grey hair (only a great colourist can do that). I got this one as a desperate effort to save my hair from turning all grey – I don‘t know if it did that – but it made my hair softer and most importantly – it made my scalp less itchy. Usually after washing my hair, my scalp gets really itchy the next day – which usually wears off. Sometimes I could wake up from my itchy scalp in the middle of the night (and get pretty annoyed). But after I started massage in this serum that was all gone.

This serum is a luxury add on to my already excessive hair routine (shampoo/conditioner(hair mask/leave-in conditioner/hair oil). The price is reasonable so it feels like a nice additional luxury, but if you are not suffering from an itchy scalp or your hair is not screaming for more shine or moisture, then its a products you can live without.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules Review

Est-e-Lauder-Advanced-Night-Repair-Intensive-Recovery-Ampoules-887167222960-Hero-Image-en.jpeg-450x450

Pros:

My skin feels amazing and radiant after first use.

Cons:

The price.

More:

I think my beauty theme for this year to date, has been budget. I have become more aware of the good ingredients at a lower cost, been relying more on what my local pharmacy has to offer and managed to keep my extravagant sheet mask habits by ordering them off Amazon to be picked up by friends going on business trips to the US (I go to great lengths to reduce my beauty costs I guess you can tell..). So these ampules are definitely a huge, huge splurge for me..and it was soo worth it. This winter my skin has felt very gloom, from too little d-vitamin and personal problems causing lack of sleep, fatigue and stress – which went straight to my skin. Of course it took a tool on my general appearance (sick and tired of colleagues telling me I look tired) and I did everything in my power to control whatever I could – which was my skin. During my most harsh days I made it a mission using a sheet mask a day and using my beauty flash balm to an excess. So where do these ampules come in? You are supposed to use them daily, I didn‘t because that‘s just too expensive…but each time I used them my skin just looked radiant the next day. No matter how heartbroken and devastated I was my skin looked excellent. And that just did something for me. It made me feel a bit better, lighter.

You are supposed to use the capsules after your serum and before your face cream. I only used them in combination with face cream, otherwise my skin felt too oily and on the verge of breaking out. There is no way you can save half a capsule for the next day – or I didn‘t even try – so again this is a luxury treatment. But each night I used them I felt like I just had a mini facial. You are supposed to use a package up – so one capsule a night for 2 months, maybe I will try that one day..when my budget says OK.
