Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara Review

Pros:

Doesn‘t give me the panda look even after a loooong day at work.

Cons:

No long lashes here.

More:

I heard about this mascara because the Danish beauty entrepreneur slash mogul Marianne Tromborg, wrote a make-up book where she claimed this is the only mascara she can use. Being a fan, I naturally wanted to try this mascara. My verdict is: that this mascara is worth its (budget) price, but it certainly doesn‘t give that “WOW” effect. It‘s a good everyday mascara: giving just the right amount of discreet volume, not giving you the panda look and you can layer it many times without your lashes lumping together. Cons are that it doesn‘t give you long lashes, and as mentioned before no dramatic effect. If I want to look discreet when I go to work I use this one, but for after-work you definitely need something more dramatic and fab…

ACO Body Lotion Wild Honey Review

aco_bodylotion_wildhoney

Pros:

Very hydrating.

Cons:

Takes a while to get absorbed.

More:

This is yet again one of those beauty products my boyfriend stole from me – and I haven‘t seen it ever since. I got this body lotion to make sure my skin would‘t get the texture of old paper after our sunny vacation – and it has worked very well (boyfriend agrees). It was also friendly to my post-vacation (and too many shopping trips) wallet – which one could say has suffered enough for 2017…

The lotion has a discreet sweet smell, and makes my post-tan skin very hydrated. Its very fat in texture, due to this it takes a while to get absorbed. The bottle lasts me a few months and I would definitely recommend this one to any girlfriend whose boyfriend likes to steal her expensive bathroom goodies – its much cheaper this way.

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask Review

peter_thomas_roth_cucumber_gel_mask_5oz_900x900

Pros:

You need a tiny tiny bit per use – so you can use this jar forever.

Cons:

Might have caused an allergic reaction for my poor friend.

More:

I haven’t quit made up my mind of what I think of this mask – on one hand I think it‘s really hydrating, I love that you need very little per use, and it‘s not very sticky (despite being a gel). On the other hand I‘m almost certain it gave my friend an allergic reaction – not a serious one just some redness that passed within a few hours – but still a bit of a killer when one brings this for a fun spa day with girlfriends and one of them turns into a tomato (she had tried it once before – which makes it more plausible, since one doesn‘t get an allergic reaction when using something for the first time). After using this mask I still need a cream and a serum but feel baby smooth, but not 100% covered in terms of hydration. This is a decent mask and you can make it last a year at least, but the result is not that fantastic considering its price.

Our best hair products – the complete list

3738large

It‘s no secret hair products take up a lot of space on this blog. Therefore we decided to compose a list of our all time favourite hair products:

  1. Best hair maskKiehl’s Olive Fruit Reparative hair pak – I have been using this mask for the past two years and ALWAYS return to it – actually its the only thing from Kiehl‘s I‘ve stayed faithful to. The mask makes my hair instantly (after 10 minutes) soft, easy to de-tangle and just makes it look much better. This blog is more about what you shouldn‘t buy rather then what you should buy and this mask is probably the only time I‘ve urged my readers to try something so urgently. By try I mean getting a sample of it. Read full review here.
  2. Best hair oilOrofluido hair oil – this oil is the oil of all oils, and those of you who have read a few reviews of hair products on this blog know that I always refer back to it. This oil makes my hair instantly soft and smells of heaven. And its a great budget buy – a bottle has lasted me for 2 years. Trust me I have tried a lot of oils and nothing comes close to it (yes we are talking about you Moroccan oil). See full review here.
  3. Best dry shampood:fi dry shampoo – most beauty/fashion/french bloggers refer to Klorane dry shampoo as the best thing out there. We have reviewed it (read review here) and we really really really liked it. But seriously there must be other dry shampoos out there which are just as good and keep a good level of quality..answer: hell yeah. Sure d:fi dry shampoo doesn‘t ooze of french sophistication but its good quality, the color is neutral (not traces of white in my hair yey) and its cheap. Much better than Klorane if you look at it from a price point – which I know many of you are. Read the full review here.
  4. Best shampoo and conditionerBamboo smooth anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner – this shampoo and conditioner are my favourites because they give my hair that va va voom feeling and a bottle lasts for about 6 months (which might justify the steep price). Considering frizz one of my hairs biggest enemies these bottles have been saviours. Read full review here.
  5. Best quick fixBamboo Kendi oil dry oil mist – this oil is my go when I need a quick solution – some shine and nice texture. It doesn‘t replace a hair cut and won‘t fight dry ends but It‘s a big favourite – partly again cause a bottle lasts for years and the shine adds some well-needed confidence from sad hair days. Read full review here.

This is our list, please feel free to share your favourite hair products with us and we will do out best to feature them in the blog. Or do you disagree with some of our choices – let us know – we love all feed-back!

EKSPERIENCE HYDRO NUTRITIVE – HYDRO-NUTRI NOURISHING MASK Review

full_eks-hidro-nutritive-2501

Pros:

My hair looks more shiny after use.

Cons:

Doesn‘t suit people who already have soft hair (like moi).

More:

After using this mask my hair became very soft, almost like a baby‘s hair. It also got some extra volume and looked a bit more “alive” (seriously any shine on a grey day and I start calling it “alive” – bare with me, winter is almost over)…Since my hair already is pretty soft, this mask wasn‘t for me – as more “softness” makes it hard for me to fix my hair, since it keeps on going in other directions then I want it to. Since this mask is made in Spain I think its target users are people with less soft but more thick hair. But I did like that it made my coloured hair look more vivid, and I could really see a big difference before and after use.

This mask smells a bit of citrus, is easy to use and one only needs little per use – so it lasts for long.

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate Review

drc_2000_2

Pros:

Makes my skin supersoft.

Cons:

Takes ages to get absorbed.

More:

I bought this concentrate thinking it was a serum – and I was wrong. Apparently you are supposed to apply it between your usual cream and serum. This concentrate feels like a thin oil on my skin – it gets absorbed super slow – so every morning I walk around glowing like a sweaty muscle for 20 minutes – applying a serum in between my layers would just give me break-outs so I chose using this concentrate as my serum. Thoughts: despite taking ages to get absorbed, this concentrate feels great on my skin – making it supersoft, and I‘ve had no break-out after I started using it (aka its not irritating my skin). It smells delicious of lemon and herbs which makes the feel a bit less synthetic when applying this potion. The price is pretty steep but I think its ok since one only need a tiny bit per use.

d:fi Beach Spray Review

dfi-beach-spray-150ml-1087-154-0150_1

Pros:

I see no effect what so ever.

Cons:

Has an UV protection.

More:

I had been looking forward to surfer waves in my thin, flat Scandinavian hair when I started using this beach spray. I did‘t get any of that. I can‘t see any difference in my hair before and after use of this spray – maybe it‘s even a bit more flat and thin after use. It does smell good of coconut though, and it has an UV protection which is a plus. I will use it to protect my hair from the sun in the summer but won‘t expect anything more then that.

Revlon 45 Days Total Color Care 2in1 Stunning Highlights Review

revlon-45-days-total-color-care-conditioning-shamp

Pros:

I can postpone a visit to the hairdresser with 10 days using this one.

Cons:

Smells a bit synthetic.

More:

I can finally write this review – since today I have actually used this shampoo for 50 days. I have short colored hair and have been experiencing the same problem over and over again – after a hair cut I‘m happy and satisfied with my hair – until after about 4 weeks the color starts to fade and my hair starts looking pretty “dull”. Since I simply can‘t afford to color my hair once a month (don‘t think its healthy either) – I usually walk around with “tired/dull” hair for another couple of weeks. So I was pretty excited but also sceptical to trying this new shampoo.

The shampoo is sulfate free which I really like. Sulfate is usually hard to completely remove from the hair, which makes my hair dry and irritates my scalp – which of course I hate. So I could definitely feel that this shampoo was sulfur free since there was no thick mass of shampoo that one had to wash out. The easiest and cheapest way for brands to create lathering shampoo is by adding sulphates. This shampoo doesn‘t lather – like shampoos usually do – and that can feel a bit unusual but one gets used to it after a couple of weeks. One also gets used to the blue/silver color, and that the shampoo smells a bit of chemicals. So I felt a bit frightened applying it in my hair – but decided to give it a 50 days chance.

I‘m satisfied with this shampoo, since my hair still looks “respectable” ( equals less dull) and the color looks totally ok – which means that I can wait another extra 10 days before heading to the hairdresser – which is great.

The shampoo doesn‘t give me a feeling of luxury due to its smell and color. Since it doesn‘t lather I use more per wash then I would have with a lathering shampoo (I think it‘s just the innate feeling of my hair won‘t get clean if it does‘t lather).

The shampoo is supposed to give UV protection – I haven‘t been able to explore that since its been freezing and grey outside. It also protects agains heat which is a plus.

d:fi Dry Shampoo Review

11369996-2364445487821718

Pros:

Neutral color – isn‘t white – so I don‘t have to spend ages combing it out.

Cons:

Hair can feel a bit dry when I use this shampoo two days in a row.

More:

Before New Years eve my hair got pretty oily – and I just didn‘t have the time to wash it: so I took a big risk (for my hair – not in life hehe) – I used a dry shampoo for the first time, before a big party (seriously those facebook photos of New Years eve usually hunt me for the rest of the year).

This dry shampoo smells very discreet – or it rather doesn‘t smell of anything which is superb since I almost always get an attack of bad cough after using dry shampoo. The color is neutral – which is fantastic since most dry shampoos are white – and one has to use looong loong time getting it out of ones hair.

The third and last plus is the price: it is cheap and the bottle is huge so it lasts a very long time.
