Keune Vital Nutrition Mask Review

keune-vital-nutrition-mask-500ml-vivadream_530x

Pros:

Provides plenty of hydration.

Cons:

High price per use.

More:

I had never heard of Keune (even though the brand is old, starting as a family business in 1922). But on my search for anything that makes my hair soft during these cold months I‘m not picky and don‘t like to go for safecards. So I was really curious trying this new (to me) brand.

The price is pretty steep so I had high expectations. Those who followed me for a while know that my loyalty is with Kiehls Olive Fruit Repairative Hair Pak, and I‘m reluctant towards new hair masks. But since I felt that even the Kiehls mask let me down a bit this cold winter I was ready to try something new..and this mask was very much worth it. One of the first signs of a good mask, is that your hair untangles as soon as you apply it – this mask does that. Secondly, it it makes my hair shiny and my split ends feel and look..less split, which is greatly appreciated. The minus: you need a lot per use as the mask is pretty heavy in consistency (like whipped butter) which makes the price per use pretty high. I will continue using this mask and if the package lasts longer then my Kiehls favourite I might just as well replace it.

L:A Bruket Cottonseed Eye Balm Review

613RpBfhKFL._SL1474_ (1)

Pros:

Makes the area under my eyes very hydrated.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Those who followed me for a while know that I‘m a consistent fan of Swedish Lilla Bruket – the brand who may, or absolutely may be responsible for the hype  of expensive hand soaps (Aesop only followed..). I like that this small Swedish one woman business has bloomed and is stocked in many cool life-style shops nowadays, make my Swedish heart proud. Using things from Lilla Bruket takes me back to the sea, felling the nature and having that little moment for myself when I pamper myself and take care of my skin (I use their lavender body oil religiously before going to bed to calm my nerves).

So what did I think of this eye cream? I like that it really makes the area around my eyes very soft – making it easy to apply make-up straight after use. I also like the pump bottle (very hygienic) and that you need very little per use. I never used anything with cottonseed before, but know it has moisturizing properties I was curious and not left disappointed. I like the unexpected ways ingredients are used such as broccoli (facial serum) and cilantro (scented candles) and am trying to keep myself from making new purchases. What is negative then? The price, it‘s a bit crazy.

Ole Henriksen Berry Nurturing Gel Mask Review

s1910751-main-hero

Pros:

Actually the price – for once – since you need so little per use, this jar can last you for a year or more.

Cons:

Doesn‘t provide “deep hydration” – but rather has a brightening effect, which not always is enough in a rough winter climate.

More:

I don‘t have much experience with Danish Ole Henriksen products, but I like his smiley face and eternal sunshine optimism. Plus my friends use Ole and his partner as an exemple when he forces me to make plans weeks in advance (apparently Ole and his partner use their calendar to map out their romantic gatherings which is foreign to a spontaneous time anarchist like myself). Anyways – this mask makes me feel like I‘m in a spa – it smells lovely of lavender and despite being a gel, is not sticky at all. The effect: my skin feels refreshed and brightened after use, and my skin very smooth. Minus: if you need deep hydration during the cold months this is not sufficient.

REVLON PROFESSIONAL BE FABULOUS ANTI AGE SERUM REVIEW

REPR0060H_1_L

Pros:

Easy to apply due to the pipette.

Cons:

Doesn‘t result in that much extra shine (which was promised…)

More:

This serum fights the visible signs of ageing – what precisely that is I‘m not sure – I don‘t think it can fight grey hair (only a great colourist can do that). I got this one as a desperate effort to save my hair from turning all grey – I don‘t know if it did that – but it made my hair softer and most importantly – it made my scalp less itchy. Usually after washing my hair, my scalp gets really itchy the next day – which usually wears off. Sometimes I could wake up from my itchy scalp in the middle of the night (and get pretty annoyed). But after I started massage in this serum that was all gone.

This serum is a luxury add on to my already excessive hair routine (shampoo/conditioner(hair mask/leave-in conditioner/hair oil). The price is reasonable so it feels like a nice additional luxury, but if you are not suffering from an itchy scalp or your hair is not screaming for more shine or moisture, then its a products you can live without.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules Review

Est-e-Lauder-Advanced-Night-Repair-Intensive-Recovery-Ampoules-887167222960-Hero-Image-en.jpeg-450x450

Pros:

My skin feels amazing and radiant after first use.

Cons:

The price.

More:

I think my beauty theme for this year to date, has been budget. I have become more aware of the good ingredients at a lower cost, been relying more on what my local pharmacy has to offer and managed to keep my extravagant sheet mask habits by ordering them off Amazon to be picked up by friends going on business trips to the US (I go to great lengths to reduce my beauty costs I guess you can tell..). So these ampules are definitely a huge, huge splurge for me..and it was soo worth it. This winter my skin has felt very gloom, from too little d-vitamin and personal problems causing lack of sleep, fatigue and stress – which went straight to my skin. Of course it took a tool on my general appearance (sick and tired of colleagues telling me I look tired) and I did everything in my power to control whatever I could – which was my skin. During my most harsh days I made it a mission using a sheet mask a day and using my beauty flash balm to an excess. So where do these ampules come in? You are supposed to use them daily, I didn‘t because that‘s just too expensive…but each time I used them my skin just looked radiant the next day. No matter how heartbroken and devastated I was my skin looked excellent. And that just did something for me. It made me feel a bit better, lighter.

You are supposed to use the capsules after your serum and before your face cream. I only used them in combination with face cream, otherwise my skin felt too oily and on the verge of breaking out. There is no way you can save half a capsule for the next day – or I didn‘t even try – so again this is a luxury treatment. But each night I used them I felt like I just had a mini facial. You are supposed to use a package up – so one capsule a night for 2 months, maybe I will try that one day..when my budget says OK.

AVÈNE TRIXERA NUTRI-FLUIDE LOTION REVIEW

trixeraixera

Pros:

Gets absorbed very fast.

Cons:

It smells a bit of a pharmacy.

More:

One of the most important things for me when choosing a good lotion, is that it gets absorbed fast. My apartment has a lot of windows (and way too few curtains) and I don‘t have time to walk around naked waiting for my lotion to dry..This lotion really doesn‘t let me down. I have to give it maximum 3 seconds to dry and I‘m ready to go (whom am I kidding – I‘m ready to run cause I‘m always running late somewhere)..The result: my skin feels very smooth after use (I can feel a big difference after my first use), and the lotion is definitely “fat” enough to be used during the coldest months of the year. The bottle says you can use it on your face too – but I save my face for my sheet masks and serums..The minus: the smell, it smells a bit of a pharmacy, but luckily the smell doesn‘t linger on for too long.

Verdict: I think this lotion of wallet friendly since you need little per use, so the bottle lasts for a long time plus I like that it gives my skin hydration and makes it soft, but most importantly – that it gets absorbed very quick.

Clinique High Lengths Mascara Review

clq_6pl501_402x464

Pros:

Easy to apply, washes of with water.

Everyday discrete mascara.

Cons:

No dramatic volume effect, not good for night on the town.

More:

I bought this mascara by mistake.. Running through the airport, the Clinique woman in taxfree gave me the wrong mascara, which I only noticed when I openned it in another country and noticed the unconventional green rubber brush. But I must admit, I dont regret the mix up. Sometimes its good to stray from your safe buys.. Once I understood that the brush doesn’t make it any more difficult to apply, I was happily surprised. This mascara is great for the easy work look, where you want to look makeup free. It really does elongate the lashes, and there is no clumps, it is a silky smooth texture. Best thing about it, is it washes of in the shower, or even just with cold water plashed in the face, and doesn’t leave resistant running streaks under your eyes. This is my fave everyday mascara! If you want a more dramatic more is more kind of mascara though this is not the one for you!

& Other Stories Perle de Coco Body Soufflé Review

0381169001_2_100011

Pros:

The smells very much lingers on your body for a loong time.

Cons:

Takes ages to get absorbed.

More:

& Other Stories has become one of my favourite shops to browse – I don‘t buy many things there but I love to just look around, especially in their beauty department. Mainly because it‘s soo affordable and their scents (or “flavours”) are always right up my alley (fresia, lemon, bourbon …though not in a mix). The summer of 2016 was the year that all beauty bloggers went bananas about this body souffle – and I went with the flow (mainly because the summer of 2016 was the summer of almost no vacation, and I badly tried to achieve the feeling of one ).

This souffle is very thick in its consistency and smells of a mix of vanilla and coconut. It hydrates my skin very well and I smell like a warm pina colada for a few hours after use. The souffle is super fat and takes a while to get absorbed, which is a bit annoying if you are not into lounging around naked trying to avoid smudging your furniture. Do I regret buying it? A bit the smell is way too heavy for me, and I got tired of it after the first week. Now I use it when I need to pretend I‘m on a beach in the Caribbean (without the sand in uncomfortable places and with my indoor use only Uggs on).

Review of Make-Up Stores Cover-all Concealer

coverall-mix_20120_500x500

Pros:

Covers very well and lasts for years.

Cons:

For the first time in this blogs history, we do not have a con.

More:

For the past seven years I have used this little jar of magic concealer almost daily to cover a superficial vein on my nose and sometimes an occasional pimpel, which shows up to remind of my youth. Also I use it to cover up red skin. Why do I call it magical you wonder? Because it has not yet run out, and I tell you the jar is small, but then again you do not need much because it covers very well. It looks very natural despite having a consistency of a thick cream and it blends into the skin very well. This concealer is very cheap, and almost free if you think about how many zillion times I have used it.
