Alterna Caviar CC Cream Review

10850175-1364444948821273

Pros:

Smells very nice

Cons:

Makes my hair look greasy when applied to dry hair.

More:

This cc cream promises your hair everything in the world (moisture, shine, softness, UV protection, strength…and 5 more things since its a 10 in one..). I have classic thin Scandinavian hair…so I constantly dream of some va-va-voom feeling..therefore I had very high hopes. First time I used it on towel dry hair and when used in combination with other volume products, I could see more shiny and looked more sleak and my split ends were less visible. Other times when I have used it on dry and not newly washed hair I just got the result of greasy hair and felt pretty disappointed.

EKSPERIENCE HYDRO NUTRITIVE – HYDRO-NUTRI NOURISHING MASK Review

full_eks-hidro-nutritive-2501

Pros:

My hair looks more shiny after use.

Cons:

Doesn‘t suit people who already have soft hair (like moi).

More:

After using this mask my hair became very soft, almost like a baby‘s hair. It also got some extra volume and looked a bit more “alive” (seriously any shine on a grey day and I start calling it “alive” – bare with me, winter is almost over)…Since my hair already is pretty soft, this mask wasn‘t for me – as more “softness” makes it hard for me to fix my hair, since it keeps on going in other directions then I want it to. Since this mask is made in Spain I think its target users are people with less soft but more thick hair. But I did like that it made my coloured hair look more vivid, and I could really see a big difference before and after use.

This mask smells a bit of citrus, is easy to use and one only needs little per use – so it lasts for long.

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate Review

drc_2000_2

Pros:

Makes my skin supersoft.

Cons:

Takes ages to get absorbed.

More:

I bought this concentrate thinking it was a serum – and I was wrong. Apparently you are supposed to apply it between your usual cream and serum. This concentrate feels like a thin oil on my skin – it gets absorbed super slow – so every morning I walk around glowing like a sweaty muscle for 20 minutes – applying a serum in between my layers would just give me break-outs so I chose using this concentrate as my serum. Thoughts: despite taking ages to get absorbed, this concentrate feels great on my skin – making it supersoft, and I‘ve had no break-out after I started using it (aka its not irritating my skin). It smells delicious of lemon and herbs which makes the feel a bit less synthetic when applying this potion. The price is pretty steep but I think its ok since one only need a tiny bit per use.

THE BEST AND WORST BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2016 – THE COMPLETE LIST

d6aa3d3610ac68e64741c200ad519a0b

Happy new year lovelies, we have made a small list of what we loved and worshipped this year:

The facial oil of this year that brought our face out of the winter darkness..

This is where we got out grapefruit fix from in 2016…

The splurge of the year – which was well worth it..

This body oil made our bathroom feel like a warm coconut beach vacation all year long

The lavender oil that puts us to bed like babies was a favourite during this sleep deprived year.

This serum made our year a biiiiit prettier

The budget product of the year was … look here.

The hair brush which became our favourite hair thing in 2016..

…but this one also did wonders to our hair.

And WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE (wasted our money on):

The powder from hell…

The face mask which did nothing of what it promised (see the full list of face masks we won‘t repurchase here).

The ecological lemongrass disappointment of 2016 goes to this shea body butter

This rose lip balm made us (and our wallet) very very sad.

The scrubb which robbed us and made no difference to out skin!

The Kiehl‘s disappointment of the year was this one.

The foundation that made us look beyond unnatural and was just not worth a penny of our hard earned salary.

Thank you for a great 2016 and we are looking forward to guide you through the beauty jungle for another marvellous year!

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Oil Review

s1392943-main-zoom

Pros:

A real saviour for winter dry skin.

Cons:

The prize – 30 ml for 50 dollars.

More:

This oil is my number one indulgence during the winter. After asking for numerous samples I finally made the purchase at the taxfree at Nice airport (where it was cheaper, probably because it‘s French duh). I use this oil when my skin is giving up during the winter months and I need not only pampering but something that smells calming and exotic – which this oil does to me (patchuli, rosewood and hazelwood is a good combo for me). It‘s sinks in easily and I apply my day cream and make-up on top of the oil pretty much straight away without making a big mess. The down-side of this oil is its glass bottle (made for disaster for clumsy people like me) and its heavy price.

ACO Face Refreshing Cleansing Lotion Review

Pros:

Does what it says on the bottle

Cons:

Stings a bit on sensitive areas of my skin

More:

I use this cleanser in the morning or in the evening as a second cleanser after make-up removal. I just massage I into my skin and then remove it with a warm and soaked little towel. This is a really affordable cleansing lotion that should work well if your skin isn’t too sensitive. Unfortunately, this one tend to irritate my reactive skin, even if it does settle fast. Which is a bit annoying.

Moroccan Oil Dry Body Oil Review

Pros:

Easy to apply and gets absorbed quickly.

Cons:

Doesn‘t help the dries parts of my chicken skin.

More:

Well I am probably the last person on earth who hasn‘t tried the actual super hyped Moroccan hair oil (because I have my favourites and this time I‘m not cheating..maybe). But when I heard they started doing skin care I became rather curious..this is body oil has the same nice smell as the original argan hair oil, I love that it is easy to apply by just spraying and it gets absorbed super duper fast which is a big plus when one is in a hurry (always). You need very little per use which makes the bottle last forever which is another plus. Minus? The price and that it doesn‘t help on the driest parts of my chicken skin.

Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Frizz AM Daytime Smoothing Blowout Balm Review

Pros:

Gives my hair more volume.

Cons:

Is hard to divide evenly into hair.

More:

Even though we all know that using a blow dryer is the express way to dry hair, I just can‘t help myself – I love it when my hair looks big and dramatic – it really spices up these dark, rainy autumn days for me. This blow-out cream smells really good (saloon blow-dry good), but is hard to divide evenly into my hair (and it‘s not even that thick or crazy). But it does add extra volume to my hair and makes it look more salon blow-dried. Its pretty pricy but you need a small amount per use which is a real plus.

HH SImonsen Web Brush midi Review

Pros:

Weights next to nothing and has the same great qualities as the original wet brush.

Cons:

The price is closer to the big version, which migth be a bummer.

More:

As you all know, the original Wet Brush was a game change for me (at least in the hair game), it really gave my hair new life and much more volume and niceness (it was also my first new hair brush in 10 years, but lets not tell anybody about that shall we). This midi brush is a baby sized wet brush, and I really love it (for me not to loose my critical blogger integrity you dear readers can read some of my harsher reviews here and here).  As I‘m writing this review, I am on holiday visiting my grandparents and seriously a brush that even weights 100 grams less then my original brush, means 100 grams more of candy/stolen 70s clothes from grandmas closet/that extra homebaked cookie to bring back home. I think that this brush though of its smaller size does the same things for my hair as the original wet brush: gives it more life, volume and a thorough brushing can really make my hair look much more alive, despite craving its next wash. Even though I have big lion hair its not a problem to comb it through with this brush.
