Eucerin Aquaporin Active Cream Review

ecn_15810_69781_aquaporin_day_spf_25_ps_print111111-800x600

Pros:

Gives great hydration.

Cons:

No anti-wrinkle properties.

More:

This cream worked great for me – I have very dry skin, that likes to transform into oily skin (due to all the dryness) which causes huge break-outs. So my mission has been to find a cream which provides me with only moisture but no “fat”, and this cream does that for me.  It‘s very light in texture and can be used both during the winter and the summer, and I use it as a day and night cream (because I‘m on a budget).

This cream was one of my weapons when I decided to try to get rid of my break-outs/acne without medication. And it worked. I also used African black soap, the enzyme peel by Emma S and tea tree oil.

What are the minuses? The cream has no anti-wrinkle active ingredients, just pure hydration.

Emma S Jasmine Facial Toner Review

7350053040526_1_default_default

Pros:

Keeps my skin hydrated whilst removing impurities.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

I‘m obsessed with facial toners – I still remember my first one – my skin never felt so clean. This toner smells lightly of jasmine and also contains cucumber (simplicity for the win). I really like how clean my skin feels after use (and I can see how much dirt and sun powder it gets off my face). Most importantly it doesn‘t dry out my skin, and leaves it feeling hydrated. A minus? You need pretty much per use, but the price is reasonable so it makes up for it.

Alterna Bamboo Volume Abundant Shampoo and Conditioner Review

41qicy-mkel

Pros:

Gives great natural volume indeed.

Cons:

The shampoo and conditioner smell a bit too strong for me.

More:

I have had some up and downs with my hair lately (it just looks and feels tired – just like me) – and these two have come in handy. The shampoo and conditioner make my hair very soft and I don‘t use any additional products except hair mask and some oil on my split ends and my hair still looks totally “fixed” and in place. Like I just visited a hairdresser. But the volume in my hair rather subtle, so if you are locking for some crazy volume this is the wrong shampoo and conditioner, also a lot of natural volume in my hair and don‘t know how much of it comes from the shampoo and conditioner and how much is just my own.

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment Review

i-022313-flashmud-brightening-treatment-1-940

Pros:

A good quick fix for dull skin.

Cons:

Not any “WOW” factor at all.

More:

This is my first GlamGlow product – I have occasionally passed their stand at Sephora – but not given it much thought. But after my Himalayan charcoal mask ran out I decided to give mud another go – even though I‘m a big sceptic. This mask is packed with ingredients I can‘t even pronounce – all promising the same things – bright, light and luminous skin.

My verdict: the mask dries in fast, which is practical, you only need to leave it on for about 10 minutes and the effect is pretty instant. I do think my skin looks very bright after use – and use this mask as a quick fix before heading out. Is it some kind of miracle that totally changed the texture and look of my skin? Absolutely not. It‘s good but not amazing – so I won‘t repurchase it again.

Revlon Professional be FABULOUS Texture Care C.R.E.A.M. Curly Hair Curl Defining Conditioner Review

z9fjuvlauzt4wkotctmn

Pros:

Works just as well when not used in combination with the curl defining shampoo.

Cons:

Just like with the curl defining shampoo – you need a lot per use.

More:

I have previously shared how much I love the shampoo that‘s twining with this conditioner. My curls are my pride – but I have been neglecting them for a long time and tend to not really think of them when I pick my hair care. So this is actually the first shampoo + conditioner duo i picked up to nourish them. And seeing the niiice effect it had on my curls – I will continue picking products that focus on enhancing my hair pride. Enhancing the natural texture of your hair rather then hiding it is my new deal (goodbye sleek Amal Clooney hair hello my inner true self no blow-dry crazy hair crazy mind self).

Back to this conditioner – it really makes my curls more well-defined, big and beautiful. The price of the conditioner is very reasonable and the only minus is that you need pretty much per use.

L:A Bruket Cottonseed Eye Balm Review

613RpBfhKFL._SL1474_ (1)

Pros:

Makes the area under my eyes very hydrated.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Those who followed me for a while know that I‘m a consistent fan of Swedish Lilla Bruket – the brand who may, or absolutely may be responsible for the hype  of expensive hand soaps (Aesop only followed..). I like that this small Swedish one woman business has bloomed and is stocked in many cool life-style shops nowadays, make my Swedish heart proud. Using things from Lilla Bruket takes me back to the sea, felling the nature and having that little moment for myself when I pamper myself and take care of my skin (I use their lavender body oil religiously before going to bed to calm my nerves).

So what did I think of this eye cream? I like that it really makes the area around my eyes very soft – making it easy to apply make-up straight after use. I also like the pump bottle (very hygienic) and that you need very little per use. I never used anything with cottonseed before, but know it has moisturizing properties I was curious and not left disappointed. I like the unexpected ways ingredients are used such as broccoli (facial serum) and cilantro (scented candles) and am trying to keep myself from making new purchases. What is negative then? The price, it‘s a bit crazy.

Avène Trixera Nutri-fluid Cleanser Review

ave_ne_-_trixera_nutrition_gel_nutri-flui_do_400ml

Pros:

Makes my skin very soft after use – I almost don‘t need my body lotion after use (saves me soo much time).

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

So winter is here and my whole body is saying no to me by being extremely dry: my hair is very very dry, my eyes medium dry, my skin pretty dry (my humour not so dry…I think..or hope?). Anyways I‘m doing everything I can to make it easier for me to get out of bed every day: I do my sheet masks, I do my hair masks, I do the fat body lotions and then of course the oils. But then I realised that I had a blind spot in my routine – my soaps (I have too many of them, don‘t even want to talk about it) – which I don‘t choose by their effect on my skin but by their smell (preferably rose, lemon or lavender). Soaps do dry out skin – it‘s common knowledge (read about why here), so I decided to try something new – to get a body soap which wouldn‘t require me using thick layers of body lotion after showering.

This Avene cleanser is soap free (I told you guys Avene is my safe place and where I head for my good basics), and leaves my skin feeling super hydrated. I think the price is fair considering a bottle is 400 ml and the only minus I see is that you need a lot per use. Of course I sometimes glance at my old soaps in the bath –  missing their strong smell (which made me feel like a 100 year old lady with no sense for when enough perfume is enough), but knowing that I‘m doing my skin some good makes me feel great, so I will not switch back until these epic months of extreme dryness are over.

Eau Thermale Avène Micellar Lotion Review

11117584-1574441838431269

Pros:

Makes my skin feel very clean and bright.

Cons:

More expensive outside of France.

More:

French pharmacy products are my safe happy place – they are the ones I turn to when I get tired of complicated beauty (like all those new products and technologies we are constantly being bombarded with). Getting clearer skin, getting rid of blemishes and blackheads has been the theme for me during the past months – the first step was adding a micellar water permanently to my routine. I use it after my cleanser and before my toner. The function of the micellar water is to remove dirt and excessive make-up.

Verdict: My skin is definitely more bright, softer and I have reduced those blemish outbursts. I feel like my make-up is being removed more efficiently, and I will continue having micellar water as a part of my daily routine. Sometimes when I feel my skin needs an extra boost, I will use micellar water in the morning too, before applying my day cream (sleeping in a small room with closed door sure isn‘t good for my skin).

What about this particular micellar water – well it‘s my first one, so I don‘t really have anything to compare it too, but the bottle lasts for ages, it doesn‘t smell and a big plus is I know Avene uses good ingredients (I live by their thermal water, which is the base for every product). Also doesn‘t dry out my skin.

Having read several reviews of this micellar water (here), i reacted to several reviewers mentioning how expensive Avene is – I got a big bottle of it for about 13 dollars in France – but I know it‘s more outside of France, which is annoying because it‘s a great budget alternative when purchased in a French pharmacy.
