Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask Review

04192068_zi

Pros:

Instant hydration.

Cons:

Expensive (at least if bought in Europe compared to the US)

More:

I think Kiehl’s is a brand with very uneven quality – I love their hair mask and coriander face mask. But their hand cream feels like a pharmacy balm which won‘t get absorbed, and their vitamin C serum – which I spent a fortune on – did absolutely nothing for me. But sometimes they really get it right – just like they did with this face mask – which I discovered at random. It feels like a regular face cream when you apply it – so not too thick. It gets absorbed very quickly – and it you see an instant result. Next day my skin looks extremely smooth, plumb and hydrated. Some overnight masks can be very rich causing sensitive skin like mine to break out – but this mask can be used several nights a week without any break-outs or feeling that you “overfeed” your skin with too much goodness.

An obvious minus with Kiehl’s and many other American brands is – that they are more expensive in Europe. The price in the US is completely ok but in Europe buying Kiehl’s is a bit of an extravagance.

Emma S Jasmine Facial Toner Review

7350053040526_1_default_default

Pros:

Keeps my skin hydrated whilst removing impurities.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

I‘m obsessed with facial toners – I still remember my first one – my skin never felt so clean. This toner smells lightly of jasmine and also contains cucumber (simplicity for the win). I really like how clean my skin feels after use (and I can see how much dirt and sun powder it gets off my face). Most importantly it doesn‘t dry out my skin, and leaves it feeling hydrated. A minus? You need pretty much per use, but the price is reasonable so it makes up for it.

Emma S Cleansing Facial Wash Review

34932

Pros:

Makes my skin feel very fresh and cleanses well – removes all residue of make-up.

Cons:

Can be a bit hard to wash off.

More:

I‘m not a big fan of those wise words pages in fashion magazines: be a strong woman, be independent, be kind blah blah blah. It‘s usually just common sense but in expensive print with a flashy bag commercial next to it. But the other day I came by an interview with Emma S where she was sharing her words of wisdom – and what struck be about her is that she seemed so incredible…sane. Her words were very simple but still resonated with the kind of person I aspire to be (working on it): never speak poorly of other people, don‘t worry so much, always assume the best about others. The only thing I didn‘t agree with was Emma‘s thought on that nothing interesting happens at a party after 2 in the morning…I don‘t agree – usually that‘s when the table dancing begins….So I‘ll skip that one. Back to my review then.

My thoughts on this facial wash: It has a creamy texture, removes all my make-up residue very well and leaves my skin feeling very fresh. I have noticed I‘ve had less break-outs and black spots after I started using this one.  The bottle lasts for a few months which is another positive. Negatives? Can be a bit hard to remove, because it‘s a bit thick.

GlamGlow Flashmud Brightening Treatment Review

i-022313-flashmud-brightening-treatment-1-940

Pros:

A good quick fix for dull skin.

Cons:

Not any “WOW” factor at all.

More:

This is my first GlamGlow product – I have occasionally passed their stand at Sephora – but not given it much thought. But after my Himalayan charcoal mask ran out I decided to give mud another go – even though I‘m a big sceptic. This mask is packed with ingredients I can‘t even pronounce – all promising the same things – bright, light and luminous skin.

My verdict: the mask dries in fast, which is practical, you only need to leave it on for about 10 minutes and the effect is pretty instant. I do think my skin looks very bright after use – and use this mask as a quick fix before heading out. Is it some kind of miracle that totally changed the texture and look of my skin? Absolutely not. It‘s good but not amazing – so I won‘t repurchase it again.

LANCÔME HYDRA INTENSE MASK REVIEW

Pros:

Extensive use of this mask really improved how my skin looks: smooth and soft, and no spots.

Cons:

It’s sticky and hard to wash off.

More:

Anybody who ever browsed through this blog knows that I have a hall of fame (and shame) of face masks.  Like every proper kitchen cupboard should have some comfort food, every girls collection of beauty products should have a comfort cornor, mine is the shrine in my bathroom belonging to my face masks. Just like Kate Moss thinks when she is shopping for vintage “there is always room for more”, I think when I see a new face mask. Unhappy vallet equals happy readers, so I guess something good comes out of this.

Now back to the mask: it has a gel like consistence, and is blue. It’s sticky and hard to get off. The brand recommends use of 5 minutes, I recommend 10, but don’t even bother leaving it on for longer, no difference in result. And don’t sleep in it (learn from my mistakes ok?). It promises to leave your skin smooth, hydrated and to delete dry lines (dry lines makes me associate with sleeping head down drunk and waking up with old make-up stale in your wrinkes, not sure that’s what Lancome meant).

I used this mask religiously 3 times a week, and on the third week I finally started seeing the miracles: my skin did indeed become very nice, hydrated (the wrinkles still there though) and no pimples. It isn’t a budget choice, but you need very small amounts and I like that it’s a quick fix mask, 10 minutes and you can go and do better things with your life.
