Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Moisture Intense Oil Creme Pre-Shampoo Treatment Review

alterna-caviar-moisture-intense-oil-creme-pre-treatment

Pros:

Makes my hair much more silky.

Cons:

The price.

More:

My beauty conclusion of 2016 is that my hair has definitely been the part of my body which I have been investing on most – beauty wise (brain wins in the category everything else – at least I like to think so while reading that stupid gossip mag..). This hair treatment is used pre-shampoo to give the shampoo and conditioner the chance of an “optimal” performance and its promised that this treatment will “leave your strands soft and smooth”. Verdict: I can certainly feel a difference in my hair becoming much more silky after 10 minutes of use, and it also makes my hair more smooth after wash. Minus – expensive product and I think I still prefer my oils to this pre-hair treatment if I have to choose one smoothness booster for my hair.

Review of Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioning Spray

Pros:

Really helps my split and dry ends.

Cons:

The effect wears off after 2-3 days (I only wash my hair every fifth day).

More:

My split and dry hair ends are a constant problem. Even a week after cutting my hair I can feel how they become dry and tired again. Usually I fight this problem with a lot of oil , thus this was my first every leave-in conditioner. I was not left disappointed, using a generous amount on my split ends after washing my hair I really noticed a big difference, my hair feeling much softer and having a healthier look.. Despite over-applying this cream a few times (in moments of desperation) my hair never felt oily, and though the effect wore off after a couple of days, and I still had to supplement with some oil I really like this conditioner. A minus is its synthetic smell.

Alterna Caviar Repairx: RE-TEXTURIZING PROTEIN CREAM

Pros:

Controls frizz. Light weight.

Cons:

Expensive.

More:

The Caviar Repairx Protein Cream is free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates and synthetic colour. It promises to be a “A deeply restorative leave-in treatment for coarse, porous, severely damaged hair.”
I wouldn’t categorise my hair to be severely damaged, nevertheless, I definitely feel a difference when using the Repairx Protein Cream; it controls frizz, softens and detangles my hair (normally, I spend a little while brushing out my hair, using this cream my brush just goes right through it and it takes no time brushing my hair).

The cream is easy to use, you simply apply it to freshly cleansed hair, focus on the lengths and that’s it.

Overall, my hair feels soft and looks healthy. The cream feels thick and gives weigh to my hair without weighing my hair down or feeling “heavy” in a bad way. The scent is nice and not too much.

I believe the product has softened the texture of my hair. If I use oils, my hair gets weighed down and quickly feels greasy. This leave in blends in with my hair in a very natural way and does not make my hair greasy or feeling like it’s filled with products.  I don’t colour my hair, but I could imagine that this leave in treatment is great for coloured or sun damaged hair.

This is an expensive products, so I would categorise it as a luxury purchase that is worth the money.

This is one of the best leave in treatments I have used to date because it is easy to use and it softens my hair without weighing it down or making it greasy.

Alterna Caviar: Repair Instant Recovery Conditioner

Pros:

Makes my hair soft and easy to detangle

Cons:

Expensive

More:

I did a review of the Caviar Repair Instant Recovery Shampoo the other day, and I’m in love with it. The same goes for the conditioner. It has the same easy to use “cap system” as the shampoo, which makes it easy for me to get the conditioner out of the bottle. The conditioner has a lovely low key smell, and I don’t have to apply a lot of it to get the desired effect.

The conditioner is very good for damaged hair or to prevent damage. It’s supposed to keep hair healthy and repair any split ends or damages. I have a hard time actually testing that and seeing effects, but my hair definitely feels well maintained, healthy and smooth.

The Caviar conditioner is free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates and synthetic colour.

The conditioner (and shampoo) is fairly expensive, but if you have the money and are willing to give a little extra for great haircare, I can recommend it. There are most likely cheaper alternatives out there, that also does the trick, but I have to say that this conditioner gives me what I’m looking for all the way from bottle design and functionality to smell, ingredients and the effect it has on my hair.

Alterna Caviar: Repair Instant Recovery Shampoo

Pros:

Makes my hair SO soft. Love the “cap system”.

Cons:

A bit expensive.

More:

I’m in love with this shampoo. It comes in an elegant bottle and the “cap system” makes it easy for me to get the shampoo from the bottle in my hand (hard to explain, but you simply twist the top, turn the bottle upside down (facing your palm) and press it gently. No shampoo is spilled or sits on the bottle and “dry”). Further, the shampoo smells nice without being too heavy, it makes my hair SO soft and I don’t have to apply heaps of it.

On top of that, the Caviar shampoo is free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates and synthetic colour.

I’ve been using this shampoo together with the conditioner (will write review soon) for a while now, and I’m a fan.

One of my friends mentioned that it can be a little tough on your scalp if you have a very sensitive scalp (she does), so she had to use another (very light) shampoo every second time. However, I have not experienced anything like that.

I can really recommend this shampoo. I love it.

Review of Caviar (Alterna) Dry Shampoo

Pros:

Free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates & synthetic colour. Travel size.

Cons:

Makes my hair grey/white. Hard to “distribute” evenly in hair.

More:

This dry shampoo from Caviar, Alterna comes in powder-form in a handy plastic bottle with 75g. I like that the bottle is small enough to have in carry-on luggage when travelling – most dry shampoos doesn’t comply with this, and it’s especially when I’m travelling that I need my dry shampoo nearby.

To apply the dry shampoo powder, you take off the top and press or shake the bottle so that the powder comes out. This is a bit hard to do because the powder tends to come in “lumps” and, hence, is not distributed evenly. Furthermore, my hair is brown and the powder is white. This means that if I apply a bit too much or do not even it out, the dry shampoo will colour my hair grey/white, which doesn’t look good!!! This has happened to me more than a couple of times and it’s really annoying because I can’t just brush it out, it really sits there, making me look like I’ve got grey hair…

A little trick: I’ve started applying the dry shampoo in the evening before I go to sleep. Then it gets “rubbed in” my scalp over night and the risks of getting grey hair is smaller.

It promises to refresh and re-energise my hair without water – I would say that it could do a better job doing just that.

Overall, I like that it comes in a small bottle and that it’s free from all kinds of bad ingredients, however, I don’t like that it’s so hard to distribute evenly to hair, and that it colours my hair grey. I would probably not get it again.
