Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate Review

1690277

Pros:

Does what it promises and suits almost all skin types.

Cons:

I’m not too fond of the lavender smell (- like the rest of the bloggers on this side).

More:

This is a classic and for good reasons! I use this daily wintertime or as a weekly treatment during other times of the year – just to get an extra hydration boost. When I’m really dry I layer it on top of a water-based moisturizing serum, underneath my nightcream. My skin loves it! Since you only need a couple of drops it last for a long time which is comforting considering the price. I have tried other face oils from other “hyped” brands bit keep coming back to my little blue bottle year after year.

ACO Body Lotion Wild Honey Review

aco_bodylotion_wildhoney

Pros:

Very hydrating.

Cons:

Takes a while to get absorbed.

More:

This is yet again one of those beauty products my boyfriend stole from me – and I haven‘t seen it ever since. I got this body lotion to make sure my skin would‘t get the texture of old paper after our sunny vacation – and it has worked very well (boyfriend agrees). It was also friendly to my post-vacation (and too many shopping trips) wallet – which one could say has suffered enough for 2017…

The lotion has a discreet sweet smell, and makes my post-tan skin very hydrated. Its very fat in texture, due to this it takes a while to get absorbed. The bottle lasts me a few months and I would definitely recommend this one to any girlfriend whose boyfriend likes to steal her expensive bathroom goodies – its much cheaper this way.

Kiehl’s Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque Review

3605971316760

Pros:

Feels very soothing and hydrating.

Cons:

Is a bit sticky.

More:

This is definitely my favourite buy of 2017 to this day. I got this masque as a treat to myself on a trip to New York as a treat and to celebrate new beginnings: new job, new plans, new ambitions and a lot of knowledge from mistakes I made in 2016 (it was a year on standstill full of emotions – and I‘ve decided to make 2017 easier for myself and my surroundings). Surely all my new hopes and promises should come with extra glowing skin I thought…and this masque did not disappoint.

The masque has a gel-like consistency, which feels a bit sticky but very pleasant and soothing on my skin. You use it for 5 minutes and I saw an instant result after the first use: my skin feels very hydrated and look glowing. Also I‘m a fan of the ingredients: aloe vera and calendula are known to have a calming effect on skin. This mask gives me the feeling of being in a spa and I love it.

I have used the Kiehls algea face masque and was a fan too – thought I don‘t think it‘s sold anymore. Though I have mixed feelings about Kiehls and think they make great and not soo great stuff – them seem to know how to make great face masques.

ACO Ultrasoft Toner Review

aco_ultra_toner

Pros:

Good cleansing and leaves my skin very soft.

Cons:

Could have had more of a “smell”.

More:

I remember when I first tried a toner water on my face – oh what a true revolution it was (piles of dirt came off my skin – literally). Having had the pleasure to travel for 2 months straight at the beginning of this year – I sort off had a beauty crisis when I ran out of to toner half-way through (and I was on island where there were no toner to buy – you were lucky if you got hold of some old overpriced Nivea sunscreen). So when I came home to this new toner from Swedish ACO I was thrilled – and literally rubbed it on my face 3 times a day for the first week (..and the dirt kept on coming off…).

So what do I think of this toner..first and foremost, one can just spray it on ones face which is very convenient. Secondly my skin feels very soft afterwards (which has been much needed since coming home has been a chock of cold). Thirdly I have never seen so much dirt come off my face when using a toner, so I‘m figuring it‘s doing a decent job. The bottle is huge thus the toner lasts for long which I like since my budget is tight after all this travelling.

What didn‘t I like: the smell is very nice and discreet but I would‘t have minded if it was a bit stronger.

Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy Review

crabtree-evelyn-rosewater-ultramoisturising-hand-therapy-52207-930x814

Pros:

Gets absorbed very fast.

Cons:

I used up my 25 gram tube in just a week.

More:

This week we are doing a double up on hand cream reviews…why? Because spring is just ain‘t arriving and our hands are soo darn dry. If you missed out on our first review check it out here. So what is the verdict on this Crabtree and Evelyn hand cream? First and foremost one can sense the difference after the first use, which is a big plus. The cream smells pleasantly but discreetly of roses, and it gets absorbed very fast which is its biggest plus. I hate sitting around waiting for my hand cream to get absorbed since I obviously always put on too much expecting miracles. If you hands are very dry (we are talking people thinking you are a 100 year old man when they see you hands and making them confused since hands don‘t match age of face) then you might to need an extra layer of coconut oil before you put on this cream for the big effect. Extra note: I already decided that pink will be the theme of my 2017 wardrobe therefore I‘m extra happy that this tube matches the new tune of my life and brightens up the contents of my hand bag.

ACO Protect & Restore Q10 Serum Review

Pros:

Moisturizes really well

Cons:

Can sometimes feel a bit sticky

More:

I use this serum underneath my night cream when I feel more dehydrated than usual and I’m always happy with the results the morning after. I don’t know too much about the anti-ageing stuff since I don’t really have wrinkles yet, but he ingredient list is nice with niacinamide and  glycerin that works well to saturate my combination skin with moisture to a relatively affordable price. I will definitely consider to re-buying this again. You all know that we are a bit of suckers for pharmacy brands on this blog (blame it on the international crazy for everything from French pharmacies), and therefore we just can‘t help ourselves but trusting things for any pharmacy, even the un-hyped Swedish ones (the hype is coming i promise…).

Review of Smith’s Rosebud Salve

Pros:

Nice sleek packaging.

Cons:

Doesn‘t really help my dry lips.

More:

I‘m probably the last person on earth to try this balm, since these are practically available in Siberia by now. I got this balm from a friend, and was thrilled since the package is lovely in a cool way and the balm smells delicious. Before writing this review I decided to do some research about this balm, reading the history of Dr. Smith was a bit like reading a book missing half the pages, anyways, what I learned is that this man who was a teacher, all of a sudden was a “Dr.” owning a pharmacy, and that he loved going to miss America pageants (random facts – I‘m sorry its the worst biography I‘ve ever read). Back to the balm – is it really that great? NOO. It is fine, but no miracle to my dry lips, which remain dry after several applications. Though it feels ok pleasant on my lips, it is pretty sticky and doesn‘t really get absorbed. Also sticking your fingers into this balm is unhygienic. Doesn‘t perform any miracles on dry skin either.

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Butter Review

Pros:

Smells natural and fresh of (pink) grapefruit.

Cons:

Super dry skin – give up right now and look for something else!

More:

This is my favourite body butter cause I am obsessed by grapefruit, and always looking for new things which are supposed to smell of it. Unfortunately this particular body butter never goes on sale or is sold for 5 dollars at Marshalls (yes it is true you can buy body butter from The Body Shop at Marshalls for 5 bucks and it‘s awesome), so I got it for Christmas from my mum last year. Verdict: beside from the lovely smell, it is easy to apply, dries in quick, and the smell lingers for a while. It never makes my skin feel too oily which is a bonus. The formula of this body butter is a bit more lighter then my other favourite from this range. It is only good for medium dry skin, so useless if you are shedding skin but great during the winter otherwise.

Crabtree & Evelyn Nantucket Briar Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy Review

Pros:

Makes my hands very soft.

Cons:

Takes a while to get absorbed.

More:

The hand creams I have purchased this winter have really disappointed me, so I was happy when the winds changed (and my hands became softer..). This cream has a very strong smell, kind off a mix of old lady and hipp Chanel perfume. I like it, but then again – I like heavier smells. What Nantucket Brier really means still remains a mystery, after googling around without any real results I vision a big bush of flowers from Nantucket as the inspiration for the fragrance for this cream (I really don‘t know what my hands smell of do I). It sinks in a bit slowly and the price is a bit over my budget, but it leaves my hands very soft which is what matters to me. It doesn‘t contain parabens, mineral oils or colour which is a big plus for my hands. This is a very luxurious hand cream and I use it instead of perfume, and get compliments for the nice smell, which is a big plus.
