Emma S Jasmine Facial Toner Review

7350053040526_1_default_default

Pros:

Keeps my skin hydrated whilst removing impurities.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

I‘m obsessed with facial toners – I still remember my first one – my skin never felt so clean. This toner smells lightly of jasmine and also contains cucumber (simplicity for the win). I really like how clean my skin feels after use (and I can see how much dirt and sun powder it gets off my face). Most importantly it doesn‘t dry out my skin, and leaves it feeling hydrated. A minus? You need pretty much per use, but the price is reasonable so it makes up for it.

Emma S Ultimate Serum Review

emma-s.-ultimate-serum-2103-143-0015_1

Pros:

Very hydrating.

Cons:

The price is a bit steep (compared to their other products).

More:

Last week I found out something new about serums – and I‘m ashamed to admit I didn‘t know it being a beauty blogger – but I still want to share it with you all – so here it comes – you have to wait as long as possible after applying your serum before you apply your cream on top of it. This in order for the active ingredients in the serum to get their time to work properly on your skin. So now first thing I do in the morning is run to apply my serum. All these years I‘ve been piling everything on top of each other (and still felt a good effekt, so now I expect miracles). Anyways, back to this Emma S serum. Being a big fan of their Ageless serum – I decided to give it a go, despite it being for slightly older skin then mine. It‘s main focus is anti-age and being 30 I feel its the right time to start (it‘s soo individual but I feel that just hydrating my skin is no longer good enough).

This serum contains hyalaronic acid and Vitamin A derivates. I trust Emma S – because I know their philosophy is all about good efficient no bull ingredients. Emma being a supermodel before retouching existed is a great example of ageing with grace. So using this serum I hoped my skin would get some of her glow. Result? This serum has given my skin loads of hydration and I definitely got rid of my “dryness wrinkles” (lines in your face you get when your skin is dehydrated). Minus? This serum is pretty “fat” so I rarely apply creams on top of it because then my skin feels sticky and make-up cakes up.

Emma S Cleansing Facial Wash Review

34932

Pros:

Makes my skin feel very fresh and cleanses well – removes all residue of make-up.

Cons:

Can be a bit hard to wash off.

More:

I‘m not a big fan of those wise words pages in fashion magazines: be a strong woman, be independent, be kind blah blah blah. It‘s usually just common sense but in expensive print with a flashy bag commercial next to it. But the other day I came by an interview with Emma S where she was sharing her words of wisdom – and what struck be about her is that she seemed so incredible…sane. Her words were very simple but still resonated with the kind of person I aspire to be (working on it): never speak poorly of other people, don‘t worry so much, always assume the best about others. The only thing I didn‘t agree with was Emma‘s thought on that nothing interesting happens at a party after 2 in the morning…I don‘t agree – usually that‘s when the table dancing begins….So I‘ll skip that one. Back to my review then.

My thoughts on this facial wash: It has a creamy texture, removes all my make-up residue very well and leaves my skin feeling very fresh. I have noticed I‘ve had less break-outs and black spots after I started using this one.  The bottle lasts for a few months which is another positive. Negatives? Can be a bit hard to remove, because it‘s a bit thick.

Dear Readers,

We love our annual lists of what was a game-changer and what we should have said no to. Here it is, enjoy (and avoid our mistakes)!

The best...

The lemon dream of the year goes to this one.

This mascara was not only wallet friendly but also the best we tried in 2017!

Our best budget buy was this charcoal mask.

This enzyme peel changed our skin game…

Our favourite Kiehl‘s product was this one.

This hair serum saved the (hair)day…

…and this foundation saved our face!

This fruity magic mask was our best splurge of the year.

The pore size reducing miracle we got hocked on..

The worst

The most overhyped product we wished we didn‘t splurge on is this Oribe spray.

This face cleanser we will never go back to..

…neither will we ever splurge on this hand cream (which did nothing for our dry hand)..

The prize of the most overhyped brand goes to Aesop big time (just read this and this review)!

This Clinique powder disappointed big time..

…and so did this foundation (if you have oily skin read this – to know what to stay away from!!).

The shampoo that did nothing for our hair was this one..

The lip balm everyone should stay away from is here.

Cetaphil did not really live up to the hype, just read here..

This was the list for 2017 – let us know which favourites you had and have a lovely 2018!

Emma S Treatment Overnight Repair Mask Review

emmas-overnight-repair-mask-470x627

Pros:

Makes my skin very soft after use.

Cons:

Takes long time to get absorbed.

More:

Those of you who have followed this blog for a while, know that I‘m a fan of Emma S – the Swedish brand, making some great stuff for a pretty reasonable price. This mask is of high quality, but doesn‘t beat my old favourites from Emma S. – their cleansing oilcleansing oil, and enzyme peel face mask. The mask promises to make my skin beautiful in the morning and relieve signs of stress. Having just started a new job and with cold autumn coming up I thought this boost is just what I need, and that anything promising to reduce my fine lines (which are starting to show their ugly face) – is a go. My verdict is that it definitely adds loads of hydration, and makes my skin more smooth and luminous – making it nicer to wake up and look in the mirror. I‘m not sure about those signs of stress – but maybe it‘s because I simply don‘t have any (wishful thinking). What I don‘t like is that the mask takes a long time to get absorbed, so I kind of have to wander around my place for a while before heading to bed after application.

Emma S. Treatment Enzyme Peel Review

23ap18qkuw_862262_front

Pros:

Makes pimples and black heads disappear.

Cons:

The price.

More:

I have very soft skin, and rarely have problems with pimples. Though I have blackheads – but if I stay away from the mirror when I‘m wearing my glasses/lenses I actually don‘t see them (and don‘t try to squeeze them out). I have used peeling since I was 16 and I tend to use a cheap Russian scrub containing apricot shell powder – but this mask from Emma S has taken removal of dead skin cells to another level. I use it about 3-4 times a month, and my skin feels baby smooth afterwards. The peeling contains AHA acids and makes your skin tingle, though the package warns you that your skin can turn red I have never experienced that. I use it to remove excess oils and dead cells from my skin.

Since many of your like to read out reviews which aim at acne prone skin and what one does with such problems, I asked my sisters take on this peel which she also uses. She has had a lot of problems with oily skin, acne and blackheads (read more about it here) and here is her take on this mask: First and foremost, a person with acne is not allowed to exfoliate ones skin mechanically (aka with a scrub) but only with peelings – such as acids or enzymes. When I first used it I got surprised that my skin turned warm and red already after 30 minutes – since products this “strong” are usually sold at salons, and not in “regular” cosmetic shops. My face was red for a pretty long while after use – so don‘t use this one when you are heading out somewhere afterwards. After a few uses I saw that my blackheads were reduced in size, and the “small” pimples on my forehead disappeared. It has not changed anything in my acne situation – not for the better or for worst. But I really liked that I can use this chemical peel on my sensitive acne skin and feel and see some result. This peeling is expensive, but the tube lasted me for about 2-3 months when used 1-2 times a week..

Emma S Warm Beach Body Wash Review

body-wash-270x360

Pros:

Smells of a summer beach – just like promised.

Cons:

Its price.

More:

This whole winter has been a looong longing for a summery and warm vacation – and finally its here (I‘m writing this post from sunny Florida yay – don‘t miss the layers). To help me getting through those cold days I‘ve read a few good books set in exotic places, watched too many episodes of Anthony Bourdains culinary adventures – but also used some body products whose smell of summer made me feel my bathroom was a beach. One of them was this Emma S shower gel  – which smells of coconut, sandelwood and fig. It lathers well and leaves a nice scent lingering on my skin and in the bathroom. And it doesn‘t dry out my skin – which I love. It‘s a bit pricey but one needs some luxuries sometimes and this is one of mine.

Emma S Warm Beach Body Oil Review

Pros:

Nice smell that makes you feel like you are heading to the beach, but still subtle enough for gloomy casual days in the city.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Those of you who have been following this blog for a while know that I‘m a big fan of Swedish Emma S (her cleansing oil is my favourite facial oil of all times). Hearing that Emma had released a new line I got curious – knowing that she made the best cleansing oil, I wanted to see what their body oil was like. I have an obsession for oils, that is no secret so I kind of consider myself being a expert. This body oil smells of vanilla, fig, coconut and (a tiny bit of) lemon. The fragrance is very subtle, but still lingers on my skin for a while. My skin doesn‘t get itchy after using this oil, something I have experienced in the past using other oil, and even though I‘ve been using this 125 ml bottle all summer I still have about 75% left. My skin also feels very hydrated after use. It dries in very fast which is a plus. Minus – the price.

The Best Oils For Face and Body List

Having a creepy and unhealthy (but ooh soo fabulous) and addictive relationship with oils I‘ve been going pretty wild these past years and tried to purchase everything for my body and face in oil form. Here is my top list:

  1. Best hair oil ever is this one – affordable and bottle last for a year at least, the only thing that helps when your hair is dying for a cut.
  2.  My favourite body oil smells of lavender, great before bed for a calming effect both for my soul and my legs (whom are scared they will never see the day light due to their chicken skin look).
  3. Cleansing your face with oil became a dream with this cleansing oil, it smells of childhood and the bottle last for many months plus I love to support a good entrepreneur.
  4. Despite its fishy smell I love love love what this oil does for my face during the winter.
  5. The best budget oil out there – almost free and makes you soft like a baby.
  6. This French shower oil is a true treat.

I would like to say I haven‘t meet an oil I didn‘t like but that would be a big fat lie – don‘t try this oil at home beauties.
