ACO Rescue Mist Review

8809754591262

Pros:

Can be spritzed on top of my make-up without ruining it.

Cons:

The mist smells a bit strong.

More:

Now is the time of the year that my skin starts getting very dry and needs some extra hydration – and I know I‘m certainly not alone in that. I like easy solutions and this spray has been one of them – a few spritz before bedtime, and after a few days use I noticed that my skin looked and felt both more smooth and well hydrated (and well-rested – despite my stressed brain allowing me very little sleep!). The spray contains vitamin C – which is supposed to boost hydration – so I‘m all game. Also I appreciate the price – it is friendly to my wallet (especially not that it is saving up for a fab Gucci tote).

What minuses does the spray have? The smell. Being a pharmacy sold brand, I kind of expected the smell of the spray to be next to nothing, and therefore it feels a bit over the top and very “perfumy”. I would prefer if this spray was odourless.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash Review

microdelivery-facewash-16oz-2014-gl-00000000_s7

Pros:

I like that this cleanser also exfoliates.

Cons:

Smells a bit of a pharmacy.

More:

I got this one as a gift from a friend- and had never tried Philosophy before. This facial wash contains small exfoliating beads, which exfoliate very well without irritating my skin. They are pretty gentle though – so if you like your face to be red and your skin almost bleeding after exfoliations this face cleanser is not for you. But this cleanser is gentle enough to be suitable for everyday use.

It does its job well though: removes make-up easily and smells very neutral (a bit like a pharmacy some might say). It doesn’t dry out my skin. And it doesn‘t remove mascara.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser Review

s1108240-main-zoom

Pros:

No problems with break-outs despite its heavy texture.

Cons:

Smells of detergent.

More:

My mum gave me this cleanser for christmas – in a smaller package (30 ml). That lasted me about 2,5 months – which I think is good. The cleanser feels more like a cream, and you need a lot per use and a lot of water to make it foam. It smells a bit like detergent (sorry stole this anomaly from a review on makeup alley) – which is unpleasant but leaves my skin feeling clean, though not very soft. I haven‘t had any problems with break-outs while using this cleanser, which the detergent smell made me fear – happy about that.

Clarins either make fantastic stuff (face oil and the beauty flash balm) or things which are pretty horrid to ones skin (their face mask). This face cleanser lands somewhere in the middle – its not that great – it can even feel luxurious if you are into the “heavy” make-up and beauty stuff – but if you like lightness and herbal smells this is not for you.

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Oil Review

s1392943-main-zoom

Pros:

A real saviour for winter dry skin.

Cons:

The prize – 30 ml for 50 dollars.

More:

This oil is my number one indulgence during the winter. After asking for numerous samples I finally made the purchase at the taxfree at Nice airport (where it was cheaper, probably because it‘s French duh). I use this oil when my skin is giving up during the winter months and I need not only pampering but something that smells calming and exotic – which this oil does to me (patchuli, rosewood and hazelwood is a good combo for me). It‘s sinks in easily and I apply my day cream and make-up on top of the oil pretty much straight away without making a big mess. The down-side of this oil is its glass bottle (made for disaster for clumsy people like me) and its heavy price.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleaning Balm

Pros:

Cleanses my skin perfectly

Cons:

Super expensive!

More:

This cleanser is super luxurious with natural plant oils and only natural fragrances. It cleanses perfectly fine, with a quite strong perfume that I’m not sure if I like or not.  I have use tons of other cleansers that works just as fine, without stripping my skin, with a smell that I’m certain that I like for a third of the price (read all of our zillion reviews here). I’m sorry, but this product is just not worth it.

ACO Face Refreshing Cleansing Lotion Review

Pros:

Does what it says on the bottle

Cons:

Stings a bit on sensitive areas of my skin

More:

I use this cleanser in the morning or in the evening as a second cleanser after make-up removal. I just massage I into my skin and then remove it with a warm and soaked little towel. This is a really affordable cleansing lotion that should work well if your skin isn’t too sensitive. Unfortunately, this one tend to irritate my reactive skin, even if it does settle fast. Which is a bit annoying.

Soap and Glory Make Yourself Youthful Rejuvenating Facial Serum Review

Pros:

Makes my skin very smooth and hydrates very well.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Ever since falling in love with my first serum I have been a devotee to the serum cult. I can‘t imagine my skin care routine without it. Since I rarely stay faithful to a beauty product I like to shop around – always looking for the next fantastic product which will take my skin to the new level. Sometimes I get pissed and robbed, and sometimes I just hit jackpot. This time it was jackpot. This serum is in the high end but I still consider it reasonably priced, especially since a bottle lasts for ages. The pump bottle is hygienic, which is important for a germ scared person like myself. But most importantly this serum leaves my skin feeling very smooth and hydrated. It gives my skin what I call, the full “serum effect” – which is leaving my skin flawless. I have been working 14 days in a row now, and heavenly relied on a lot of cheeseburgers to keep my spirit up (ate one for breakfast this morning, seriously bad start to the day), and yet my skin looks like I just had a facial and 14 hours of sleep (unfortunately the dark rings give me away). Thank you dear serum couldn‘t have made these 2 weeks without you!

L:A Bruket Facial Chamomile and Bergamot Toner and Freshener Review

Pros:

Feels very hydrating and pleasant.

Cons:

Hurt if you get it in your eyes.

More:

I am a big fan of Swedish L:A Bruket and have been using this refresher for the past months when getting in to work after a 13 km bike ride – all in order to maintain the illusion that I took a limo instead of my old grumpy bike. This toner/refresher is unisex so the smell is very pleasant without being “too much” and the hydrating feeling one gets lasts for a few hours. Bergamot is supposed to have a healing, calming and antiseptic effect – all of which I want for my skin. I have also used this pretty bottle as a toner as a part of my night time routine, and love that you can spray it on which is hygienic and easy (especially when you are tired and want to go to bed in your make-up). The only downside of this toner is that it hurts sooo much if you accidently spray it in your eyes – hopefully you guys aren‘t as clumsy as I am.

BEAUTÉ PACIFIQUE Instant Hydrating Mask

Pros:

Very moisturising.

Cons:

It‘s a bit pricy.

More:

Spring is here, and I am almost ready to depart with my “heavy” face creams and move on to lighter products. Naturally I have been locking for a face mask (it‘s no secret that I‘m very much obsessed) to bring into my spring routine – one that isn‘t too “heavy” and “fat” but rather gets absorbed quickly but still makes your skin looks luminous and smooth when you wake up.

I like that the founders of Danish Beauté Pacifique are engineers and have a past working for the medical industry, I just simply can‘t imagine engineers things that would be crappy for your face. I also like that those same engineers develop medical equipment for diagnostics of skin diseases – which makes me feel that they are far more knowledgeable then the execs of some major skin care brands. And of course- as all of you know – I have a soft spot for smaller companies making their way in the beauty industry relying on the quality of their products rather then multibillions dollar ads.

Back to this mask: the consistency of it is very light, it gets absorbed quick and smells of herbs. It can also be used as a 10 minutes mask, but I only use it overnight. The result is satisfying: my skin is soft, looks radiant and I get everything else that one would expect from a very moisturising mask. The only con is that it is a bit pricy. The mask also promises to minimize fine lines and wrinkles but I think I need to use it for a year at least to be able to tell if I can see any of those results…
