L:A Bruket Broccoli Seed Serum Review

10994_large_c677162c-ab52-40f4-adcb-1293764d69b8

Pros:

Contains broccoli – which is something I never tried on my skin before.

Cons:

Comes in a glass jar.

More:

This serum got an uninvited – but very pleasent extra “dimension” – after accidentally dropping the glass jar on my bathroom floor – I put the remain in my fridge in a plastic container – and voila – applying the ice cold serum now feels beyond refreshing.

I have never used broccoli on my face – but having read its long list of beneficial properties – I was all game. Since broccoli is consider a superfood – being loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, I hoped that my post-winter superdry and very pale skin could get a good boost. Broccoli contains vitamin A (helps stimulate new skin cell production), arachidonic acid (calming effect) plus vitamins C, E and beta-carotene (reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation). So my expectations were hight – the result – the serum is like a light gel, gets absorbed relatively fast – and makes my skin feel very smooth and refreshed (especially since the broken glass jar ended up in my fridge – where it puzzles my boyfriend daily).

A big con is obviously the glass jar – which is very appealing visually but can be very unpractical.

L:A Bruket Sea Salt Scrub Sage / Rosemary / Lavender Review

063_sea_salt_scrub_sage_rosemary_lavender_350ml_1024x1024

Pros:

Contains a lot of oil which makes my skin very soft after use – no need to use a body oil or body lotion.

Cons:

The scrub could be “rougher” on my skin (I like my skin to hurt a bit after a proper scrub).

More:

Those of you whom have followed us for a while know about our L:A Bruket obsession and that we can‘t get enough of these Swedish good ingredients beauty products which make us feel like a zillion (and like queens of all things natural obviously). This time we have gotton our hands on the Lavender/ Sage / Rosemary body scrub and here are our thoughts: the scrub is made of fine salt, it smells delicious mainly of rosemary and leaves our skin very smooth. The salt is drained in oil so our skin feels very hydrated and supersoft after use – which is great since most scrubs leave you itchy and in immediate need of body lotion / body oil. Negatives: the scrub could have contained bigger salt grains in order for one to really feel a more “rough” scrub.

THE BEST AND WORST BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2016 – THE COMPLETE LIST

d6aa3d3610ac68e64741c200ad519a0b

Happy new year lovelies, we have made a small list of what we loved and worshipped this year:

The facial oil of this year that brought our face out of the winter darkness..

This is where we got out grapefruit fix from in 2016…

The splurge of the year – which was well worth it..

This body oil made our bathroom feel like a warm coconut beach vacation all year long

The lavender oil that puts us to bed like babies was a favourite during this sleep deprived year.

This serum made our year a biiiiit prettier

The budget product of the year was … look here.

The hair brush which became our favourite hair thing in 2016..

…but this one also did wonders to our hair.

And WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE (wasted our money on):

The powder from hell…

The face mask which did nothing of what it promised (see the full list of face masks we won‘t repurchase here).

The ecological lemongrass disappointment of 2016 goes to this shea body butter

This rose lip balm made us (and our wallet) very very sad.

The scrubb which robbed us and made no difference to out skin!

The Kiehl‘s disappointment of the year was this one.

The foundation that made us look beyond unnatural and was just not worth a penny of our hard earned salary.

Thank you for a great 2016 and we are looking forward to guide you through the beauty jungle for another marvellous year!

L:A Bruket Lemongrass Hand Wash Review

0110_indie_la-bruket-69_9549

Pros:

Doesn‘t dry out my skin.

Cons:

It‘s heavy price.

More:

My friend was going to sell her a apartment and as tradition entails she got this soap when getting pictures taken of her bathroom/kitchen to make it look a bit stylish/hipster/ buy-me-now worthy.  She got obsessed and recommended it to me (or I washed my hand 10 times during a 2 hour visit and had to get myself my own soap)..

I‘m no stranger to Swedish brand L:A Bruket (read previous reviews here and here) and generally like their things: they smell great, last for long and the packages are very stylish and make my life feel a bit more stylish in that minimalistic Scandi way. My best birthday gift this year was their Grapefruit candle which smells delicious and lasts for ages (and is painfully pricey which is why I would never give it to myself)…My verdict of this hand wash: smells fresh of lemongrass, doesn‘t dry out my skin, lasts for loooong (2-3 months) and for all you soap nerds out there: it‘s cheaper then Aesop (I know there is an expensive hand soap cult out there). Downside: expensive for a hand soap.

L:A Bruket Facial Chamomile and Bergamot Toner and Freshener Review

Pros:

Feels very hydrating and pleasant.

Cons:

Hurt if you get it in your eyes.

More:

I am a big fan of Swedish L:A Bruket and have been using this refresher for the past months when getting in to work after a 13 km bike ride – all in order to maintain the illusion that I took a limo instead of my old grumpy bike. This toner/refresher is unisex so the smell is very pleasant without being “too much” and the hydrating feeling one gets lasts for a few hours. Bergamot is supposed to have a healing, calming and antiseptic effect – all of which I want for my skin. I have also used this pretty bottle as a toner as a part of my night time routine, and love that you can spray it on which is hygienic and easy (especially when you are tired and want to go to bed in your make-up). The only downside of this toner is that it hurts sooo much if you accidently spray it in your eyes – hopefully you guys aren‘t as clumsy as I am.

L:A Bruket Vildros Body Butter Review

Pros:

Makes my skin silky smooth.

Cons:

Takes a while to get absorbed.

More:

Today‘s theme is roses, and I‘m having a day off so I‘m treating you dear readers to two posts. This body butter which smells of wild roses, is very silky and leaves my skin soft. I like the idea of  body butters which smell fresh but not too sweet, which this one does. It sinks in pretty slowly which is a minus. The smell of roses is very discreet and pleasant, and the butter has the texture of sorbet, and melts into my skin.

L:A BRUKET PETITGRAIN FACIAL SCRUB REVIEW

l-a20bruket20face20scrub20050

Pros:

Smells very nice of herbs and leaves my skin soft. Very gentle on the skin.

Cons:

Doesn‘t exfoliate my skin enough.

More:

I love scrubs, but I rarely encounter a good one, and tend to stick to my home-made coffee remedy against dead cells. Though I have never found a good home-made scrub for my face, and soo I keep looking for the perfect facial scrub..My verdict of this L:A Bruket scrub is that it simply doesn‘t scrub enough (my definition of a good scrub is when it basically makes the utter layer of my skin peel off). This scrub is very gentle, it smells great of herbs and the grains are mixed with an oily fluid. This means that your skin is left feeling super soft after scrubbing since you apply oil simultaneously as you scrub.

L:A Bruket Facial Oil Carrot/Bergamot Review

Pros:

It dries in very fast and is very hydrating.

Cons:

The bottle can easily be used up in 3-4 months.

More:

I have a bit of an obsession with Swedish L:A Bruket,  because I am attracted to the idea of a brand founded by the sea, incorporating natural products into stylish bottles of “things that actually work”. Having an obsession with oils I am trying to replace every product on my beauty shelf with an oil. This time my serum had to go to make space for this precious bottle. This oil dries in fast and is very hydrating. It smells of bergamot and you can see carrots have been used in its bright orange color. Using this oil only is not enough since it in itself is not hydrating enough by a boost of a day/night cream is needed. I like that the bottle comes with a pippette which makes it easy to directly drop the oil on my skin.

Review of L:A Bruket Salmia/Rosmarin/Lavender Body Oil

Pros:

Dries in fast and smells great.

Cons:

If your skin is super dry (post sun vacation dry) – you might need a back-up.

More:

As all of you know, I am a big fan of all types of oils, and I also love lavender therefore this oil has made my bathroom shelf very happy. You get a lot per spritz, the bottle lasts for long (I have been abusing mine daily for a month and noticed that only a small fraction is gone) and a very important factor – it dries in quickly. I hate it when you have to walk around and wait for an oil to dry in so you can continue with your day without staining your whole apartment. The smell of lavender lingers for a while and I can definitely feel how my skin has become softer after I started using this oil. The minuses: it is pretty pricy and when you have ultra dry skin it wont help (I tried it on my peeling post-vacation skin and needed to supplement it with other fat cremes). Warning you wont get this one off your sheets without a lot of work.

L:A Bruket was founded on the west coast in Sweden. I must say that the Swedish part of my heart beams with pride when I see their stuff sold all over the world, often in stylish hipster shops. They use natural and organic ingredients, and find their inspiration in nature (they sell algeas so you can take a bath in a very natural environment still staying in your tub). As mentioned previously I really respect and look up to creators of small brand which manage to thrive and create new jobs in small towns, putting their brand on the map next to big million dollar companies. Which is why I am a big fan of L:A Bruket.
