#LIPGLAM Review

lipglam-lbnllb-100-natural-lip-balm-12ml-2907-p

Pros:

Makes my lips soft instantly.

Cons:

The effect doesn‘t last for 8 hours and I reapply this lip balm often.

More:

This little fellow has been my friend through many of my nightshifts – saving my dry lips and hands many many times. First and foremost, when I choose a lip balm it has to be practical – easy and hygienic to apply (no glass jars that you have to stick your fingers into). Secondly I need instant effect – working many night shifts means my skin dries out – and I can go from having perfectly fine lips in the afternoon to deep painful ultra dry cracks the next day. Thirdly, I always use some kind of balm as a base before lipstick application – sometimes even playing around mixing two different colours – which is possible when you use a balm base.

This lip balm is makes my lips and skin instantly soft, and the effect lasts a few hours (though not eight hours as promised). It is a great base when applying lipstick. The package is light and easy to apply. The lip balm doesn‘t really smell of anything which I also like and is free from parabens. The package says you can also use it for eyebrows, rashes, dry cuticles and split ends – which I haven‘t tried – only used it on my hands and lips (if you have tried these other applications – leave a comment and let me know how you liked it).

The Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm Review

Pros:

Has an ok creamy texture.

Cons:

My lips are dry again within 5 minutes after I have applied this balm.

More:

This lip balm is infused with shea butter, rose hip, pomegranate and vitamin E..so far, so good right? It sounds like all the right ingredients are in it to make your lips soft and desirable..except this lip balm really didn‘t live up to anything. Within 5 minutes after application of this balm my lips are cracked and dry again. Seriously it is as if I haven‘t applied anything at all to them. The texture of the balm is OK: a bit too oily for my taste, and soo stale you have to apply the balm with your fingers, even though the package is a tube. The balm needs to be re-applied quit often and gives your lips a vague shine. Basically this was a big disappointment and I want my money back!

Maria Åkerberg Serenity Lipstick Review

Pros:

Very nice and subtle shade.

Cons:

The price.

More:

Since starting my new job (my first job since graduation wohoo) I have been looking for a lipstick which is suitable for work but still makes me feel like a million. I usually opt for brown-pinkish shades which give away not always look natural but make me feel very feminine. This Maria Åkerberg lipstick in the color of Serenity is in a brown pinkish shade, which is very subtle but still makes me feel glamourous. It looks natural though everybody knows that an albino like me was not born with brown lips. It is soft in its texture, easy to apply and stays on for a few hours. It contains a subtle gloss which I really like. I have previously written about this self-made Swedish brand, you can read a previous review here.

Review of L’occitane cherry blossom lip balm

Pros:

Makes my lips soft and smells great.

Cons:

Have to re-apply every third or fourth hour.

More:

What caught me about this lip balm was the sweet package and the nice smell. I have never used anything from L’occitane before so had no expectations.  It smells really sweet and my lips feel very soft. The smell is very luxurious and my boyfriend likes the smell A LOT (more kisses for me makes using this lip balm into an action of postive reinforcement). But you have to re-apply it every third or fourth hour in order to keep your boyfriend to wanting to kiss you..and your lips to stay soft. It also adds a very subtile gloss.

Bare English & co Tea infused organic vegan pink grapefruit lip balm review

Pros:

The balm is light, organic and makes your lips soft, without being sticky.

Cons:

You need to re-apply often.

More:

Bare English & co makes organic vegan lip balms, I found mine in Canada. The balm is light, organic and makes your lips soft, without being sticky. It brings together the best: oils for your lips in one small package. The mix of coconut oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil and others (I could go on and on and on) blend together in a moisturising mix with the light flavour of pink grapefruit. The best thing is all the ingredients are good for you: your kisses are now petroleum free. Unfortunately all this natural goodness is not very long lasting and re-applications after licking your lips or long make-out sessions is necessary. Also good for emergency cuticle  moisturising.

Rudolph Care: Acai Lip Balm

Pros:

Tastes good, ‘healthy’, leaves my lips soft and hydrated without being too sticky. Also good for other dry areas

Cons:

You have to apply it with your finger, which means that you stick your (dirty?) fingers into the balm whenever you want to apply it

More:

I have said it before, and I will say it again: I’m a fan of Rudolph Care. I love that they make products without harmful ingredients or chemicals. I think this is something that the entire beauty industry should focus a lot more on: We apply these products to our biggest absorbing organ (our skin) several times a day. I.e. when using products with perfume, chemicals and what-have-you, we feed our body with toxics, and the consequences is starting to show around the world. Okay, enough of me preaching (I just wish there were more ‘healthy’ products).

The Lip Balm comes in a little glass container and looks really cute. You have to stick your finger in the container and apply the balm with your finger, which I’m not a huge fan of, as it’s inevitable to drag some bacteria into my lovely lip balm.

The balm smells great (the Rudolph smell) and it even tastes all right if you accidentally eat it, which is hard to avoid, when applied to lips several times a day. I keep the lip balm in my coat pocket or purse, to have it with me at all times. It works wonders on cracked winter lips, and during the summer time, it’s good for sunburned skin or lips.

I also use the lip balm to give my lips a little “shine” when I go out.

Even though I feel a here-and-now hydration and improvement of my lips’ condition, the balm does not hydrate my lips in-depth, further, this is an expensive product (around €26 for 15ml), but it lasts long.

Review of Body Shop Mango Lip Butter

Pros:

The container lasts for ages.

Cons:

Makes your lips yellow when you apply to much and doesn’t really make my lips soft for longer periods of time.

More:

When you are a Body Shop addict you overconsume, this is my case I admit it. And you become reckless investing in products that aren’t necessary so good. This is the case of the lip butter for me and most of my girlfriends (I did a quick ask-around at our latest get-together). You want it to be just as good as the body butter, but it just doesn’t live up to the hight standards set by the it and by the price.

This lip butter smells great, it doesn’t really taste of anything but a bit of sweetness. It turns your lips yellow when you apply too much and it doesn’t really help dry and cracked lips. In fact Ive actually experienced that at times it made them even more dry. But hey, at least a package lasts for long. One last thing, I don’t want to sound old, but sticking your fingers into the same small container is just unhygienic.

Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss Review

Pros:

Feels pleasant on the lips and has a neutral taste.

Cons:

It does not withstand contact with cups/other lips and you will have to re-apply it.

More:

I liked this lipgloss because it didn’t feel like glue on my lips, neither was it sticky and it was easy to apply evenly. It has a neutral taste (apparently there are other glosses in this series that have taste, mine didn’t, I tried the Carriberry shade). If you don’t come into contact with anything this lipgloss will last long on your lips, but if you do, you will have to re-apply, so theres no magic here. Still its not often I find a gloss that doesn’t make my lips feel like they are a part of a plastic fantastic movie. If you have any suggestions for good glosses please leave me a comment!
