Revlon Professional Be Fabulous Cream Shampoo and Conditioner for normal/thick hair Review

41kzq5tw5tl-_sy355_

Pros:

Gives my hair great volume.

Cons:

My hair looks dirty already 2 days after use.

More:

I think this shampoo and conditioner are very good budget options to my usual Bamboo and Alterna products (which I love but are pretty pricey). They give my hair great volume, smell good and my hair looks very “put together” after use (aka it looks like I actually have a hair stylist and some kind of vision when it comes to my hair – and not just an explosion of volume). The conditioner makes my hair feel soft immediately and can be used solo without a mask since it is so hydrating and nourishing.

Since I have thick hair I only wash it once every 5 days, but when using this shampoo and conditioner my hair looked dirty already after 2-3 days – which is a big minus for me. I made my granny use this shampoo and conditioner too and she had the same result.

Our best hair products – the complete list

3738large

It‘s no secret hair products take up a lot of space on this blog. Therefore we decided to compose a list of our all time favourite hair products:

  1. Best hair maskKiehl’s Olive Fruit Reparative hair pak – I have been using this mask for the past two years and ALWAYS return to it – actually its the only thing from Kiehl‘s I‘ve stayed faithful to. The mask makes my hair instantly (after 10 minutes) soft, easy to de-tangle and just makes it look much better. This blog is more about what you shouldn‘t buy rather then what you should buy and this mask is probably the only time I‘ve urged my readers to try something so urgently. By try I mean getting a sample of it. Read full review here.
  2. Best hair oilOrofluido hair oil – this oil is the oil of all oils, and those of you who have read a few reviews of hair products on this blog know that I always refer back to it. This oil makes my hair instantly soft and smells of heaven. And its a great budget buy – a bottle has lasted me for 2 years. Trust me I have tried a lot of oils and nothing comes close to it (yes we are talking about you Moroccan oil). See full review here.
  3. Best dry shampood:fi dry shampoo – most beauty/fashion/french bloggers refer to Klorane dry shampoo as the best thing out there. We have reviewed it (read review here) and we really really really liked it. But seriously there must be other dry shampoos out there which are just as good and keep a good level of quality..answer: hell yeah. Sure d:fi dry shampoo doesn‘t ooze of french sophistication but its good quality, the color is neutral (not traces of white in my hair yey) and its cheap. Much better than Klorane if you look at it from a price point – which I know many of you are. Read the full review here.
  4. Best shampoo and conditionerBamboo smooth anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner – this shampoo and conditioner are my favourites because they give my hair that va va voom feeling and a bottle lasts for about 6 months (which might justify the steep price). Considering frizz one of my hairs biggest enemies these bottles have been saviours. Read full review here.
  5. Best quick fixBamboo Kendi oil dry oil mist – this oil is my go when I need a quick solution – some shine and nice texture. It doesn‘t replace a hair cut and won‘t fight dry ends but It‘s a big favourite – partly again cause a bottle lasts for years and the shine adds some well-needed confidence from sad hair days. This is our list, please feel free to share your favourite hair products with us and we will do out best to feature them in the blog. Or do you disagree with some of our choices – let us know – we love all feed-back!

Revlon 45 Days Total Color Care 2in1 Stunning Highlights Review

revlon-45-days-total-color-care-conditioning-shamp

Pros:

I can postpone a visit to the hairdresser with 10 days using this one.

Cons:

Smells a bit synthetic.

More:

I can finally write this review – since today I have actually used this shampoo for 50 days. I have short colored hair and have been experiencing the same problem over and over again – after a hair cut I‘m happy and satisfied with my hair – until after about 4 weeks the color starts to fade and my hair starts looking pretty “dull”. Since I simply can‘t afford to color my hair once a month (don‘t think its healthy either) – I usually walk around with “tired/dull” hair for another couple of weeks. So I was pretty excited but also sceptical to trying this new shampoo.

The shampoo is sulfate free which I really like. Sulfate is usually hard to completely remove from the hair, which makes my hair dry and irritates my scalp – which of course I hate. So I could definitely feel that this shampoo was sulfur free since there was no thick mass of shampoo that one had to wash out. The easiest and cheapest way for brands to create lathering shampoo is by adding sulphates. This shampoo doesn‘t lather – like shampoos usually do – and that can feel a bit unusual but one gets used to it after a couple of weeks. One also gets used to the blue/silver color, and that the shampoo smells a bit of chemicals. So I felt a bit frightened applying it in my hair – but decided to give it a 50 days chance.

I‘m satisfied with this shampoo, since my hair still looks “respectable” ( equals less dull) and the color looks totally ok – which means that I can wait another extra 10 days before heading to the hairdresser – which is great.

The shampoo doesn‘t give me a feeling of luxury due to its smell and color. Since it doesn‘t lather I use more per wash then I would have with a lathering shampoo (I think it‘s just the innate feeling of my hair won‘t get clean if it does‘t lather).

The shampoo is supposed to give UV protection – I haven‘t been able to explore that since its been freezing and grey outside. It also protects agains heat which is a plus.

Review of Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

Pros:

Makes my hair very soft.

Cons:

The price.

More:

This is a pricy shampoo and conditioner, that my hair praises me for using. This winter has really killed my hair and it feels superdry and exhausted already a week after a haircut. You need pretty much of this shampoo and conditioner, it is very creamy and lathers a lot. After use it does indeed become very soft (I use much less oil afterwards then I used too, and only on my split ends). My hair is easy to detangle and looks very nice (usually I look like a troll the first day efter a hair wash) instantlaey, which I love. I also like that it is free of parabens. What do I not like? Well, the classic Caviar smell is not really my cup of tea, and these are some pricy bottles. But my hair deserves it. Also the volume is not as crazy as with this shampoo.

Review Of L’occitane 5 Essential Oils Shampoo And Conditioner

Pros:

Gives hair a nice volume.

Cons:

Does not help frizz.

More:

This shampoo and conditioner was given to me by a friend, so I had zero expectations, not picking them up myself. I love L’occitane, but due to how expensive they are, I have never purchased anything from them, and hope that they will finally start having real proper sales soon, so that you can enjoy their french goodies without killing your budget.

The shampoo and conditioner contrain five essential oils: ylang-ylang, sweet orange, lavender, geranium and angelica. It smells delicious, and using it for the first time I can notice a great difference, feeling that my hair is softer and has a very nice volume (my hair is very crazy, so when it looks a tiny bit like it is under control I fall in love with the product responsible). It actually looks like I had a minor blow-dry rather then being crazy, as it usually is the day after I’ve washed my hair. But my hair is still not that soft, and I need to oils and leave-in-conditioner. Usually I wash my hair every fifth day since its soo big and turns oily otherwise, but after using this shampoo and conditioner it already feels dirty on the third/fourth day. Also they don’t help against frizz, which also is a big minus.

By a way of conclusion, I think this shampoo and conditioner are nice, smell good and feel luxurious, but they are not worth their (high) price.

Alterna Caviar: Repair Instant Recovery Shampoo

Pros:

Makes my hair SO soft. Love the “cap system”.

Cons:

A bit expensive.

More:

I’m in love with this shampoo. It comes in an elegant bottle and the “cap system” makes it easy for me to get the shampoo from the bottle in my hand (hard to explain, but you simply twist the top, turn the bottle upside down (facing your palm) and press it gently. No shampoo is spilled or sits on the bottle and “dry”). Further, the shampoo smells nice without being too heavy, it makes my hair SO soft and I don’t have to apply heaps of it.

On top of that, the Caviar shampoo is free from parabens, sulfates, phthalates and synthetic colour.

I’ve been using this shampoo together with the conditioner (will write review soon) for a while now, and I’m a fan.

One of my friends mentioned that it can be a little tough on your scalp if you have a very sensitive scalp (she does), so she had to use another (very light) shampoo every second time. However, I have not experienced anything like that.

I can really recommend this shampoo. I love it.

Revlon Professional: All in one conditioning shampoo review

Pros:

Works as a shampoo and a conditioner and leaves my hair soft and easy to comb through

Cons:

My hair gets a bit greasy/”heavy” on the 2nd day after using (but I also tend to get greasy hair)

More:

The Uniq One All in One Conditioning Shampoo from Revlon is a nice 2-in-1 alternative if you don’t want to over-complicate your hair washing routine. You get one bottle, with one conditioning shampoo that you can apply once in the shower and then you’re good to go.

Normally, I like to separate my shampoo and conditioner, because I tend to get greasy hair, and everyone with greasy hair knows that conditioner should only go in the ends of your hair – NOT on the scalp. Therefore, I was a bit sceptical when I started to use this conditioning shampoo. Luckily, the shampoo turned out to work fine for me. It’s actually kind of nice that I can just do everything at once, with one “soap” without having to add shampoo – rub in – wash – add conditioner – rub in – wait – wash. However, my hair do have a small tendency to get greasy a little bit faster than usual with this shampoo.

Also, people with dry, damaged hair might need more cair, fx. a hairmask once or twice a week to complement this shampoo.

That said, it’s great for doing what it’s supposed to, it washes my hair and scalp, makes my hair silky and smooth, it doesn’t weight my hair down and my hair is easy to manage. A 300 ml bottle lasts for around four months when washing every second day.

Tromborg: Herbal & Vitamin Shampoo

Pros:

Nice smell. Cleans my hair and makes it soft. No “fuss”

Cons:

I would like to know more about the ingredients in the shampoo and whether Tromborg tests on animals.

More:

The Herbal & Vitamin Shampoo from Tromborg is a really simple, down to earth shampoo that does what it promises. From the simple bottle and scent of the shampoo, I get the feeling that this shampoo has what I need without making crazy promises (like all the over-commercialised shampoos that has invaded my TV-screen for the past many years).

I have a small travel bottle with this shampoo, and I’ve used it when I’m travelling for a long time now. Normally, I use conditioner and once a week a hair mask, but this Tromborg shampoo actually does it for me (without conditioner) when I’m travelling – and I don’t even have any problems brushing out my hair.

The shampoo is very mild and doesn’t irritate the scalp.

On the negative side, I couldn’t seem to find that much information on the shampoo other than the “sales pitch” with all the vitamins it contains… No answers on: Organic? Perfume? Parbens? Is it animal tested? I couldn’t find answer to my question on the bottle or on their webpage. I tried Googling around and got some mixed answers… I found a blog comment that said that Tromborg didn’t test on animals, and on Amazon this shampoo should contain organic ingredients. But I would like some more information before I can make any conclusions.

Review of REVLON PROFESSIONAL Sebum Balance Shampoo

Pros:

Makes my hair soft and light

Cons:

I don’t see the best results doing what it’s supposed to do: Regulating my oily scalp

More:

The REVLON Sebum Balance Shampoo claims to leave your hair light and balanced by purifying my scalp and regulating sebum production. In case you didn’t know, sebum is “an oily secretion of the sebaceous glands” (Google, 2015). It’s this oiliness that my scalp produces, that I’ve tried to minimise. The thing is that if I wash my hair on Monday morning before heading off to work, my hair is already a bit ‘heavy’, darker and greasier at the scalp on Tuesday, which means that I most likely will do a pony tail to hide the greasiness. On Wednesday morning I have to wash my hair again, unless I want to look like a hobo who hasn’t washed her hair in a year…

If I wash my hair every day to avoid the 2nd day hair greasiness, my hair will simply start to go greasy on day one, so this is not a solution. If I try the good ol’ advice of not washing my hair for a week (or more) so my hair should “get used to not being washed so often” and thereby “decrease the production of sebum/grease”, I just end up looking like a hobo for the time that I don’t wash my hair, and my hair will go back to normal after that (I tried it a couple of times now).

As you can hear, the greasy hair annoys me. If I’m on a festival or are travelling, I’m very dependant on being able to wash my hair often, which has seemed to be not-so-easy on the go. On the other hand, there’s some great dry shampoos to help me out, but let’s face it; I can’t live on dry shampoo my whole life, and the effect is not 100% like freshly washed hair.

But back to the Sebum Balance Shampoo: It smells nice, I only have to use it once (sometimes I have to apply shampoo twice when washing my hair, to make sure it’s cleaned). Further, the Sebum Balance Shampoo makes my hair feel very soft, tameable and  light.

For the balancing part: it doesn’t work wonders regulating my oily scalp,. It’s a nice shampoo, but there’s only a small difference to notice on how greasy my hair becomes. However, in this product you get a fine, professional shampoo, which has a fair price.
