Emma S Sugar Lime Body Lotion Review

8825828769822

Pros:

The smell lingers on my skin for long = very important.

Cons:

Not for those on a budget.

More:

I think most readers of this blog know by now that I‘m a biiig fan of Swedish Emma S Wiklund – the woman not only a sassy enterpeneur with a truly inspirational career from model to business owner, but she also gave some of the essentials in my daily skin care routine – I use her face cleansing oil and serum daily. And my skin thanks me for it daily too.

This body lotion is a true treat – it gets absorbed fast (a must for me), makes my skin very hydrated and smells great. The lime caramel is an unexpected combination  – and the result is not too sweet but very comforting and pleasant (and not dull aka you don‘t smell of your grandmas caramel cookies or old perfume). And you need a little per use. Negatives – this is not a budget product – but more in the “treat yourself” end of the spectrum.

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-milk Review

3019212

Pros:

Makes my skin super smooth.

Cons:

You can‘t read the ingredients list before you buy the package.

More:

I try to read the reviews of others before writing my own – not to get reassured of my opinion, but rather to make sure I don‘t miss any important thoughts on the products I review – which is how I came across the fact (which hadn‘t hit me) – that on this bottle you can‘t read the ingredients list before purchasing the bottle. It is one of those sticky “pull off” paper so you can‘t read it while in the store without “damaging” the package a bit. There are many products which are designed like this, and knowing how much more aware we are today of the ingredients of what we put on our skin – this form of packaging is a big no NOOO.

Anyways back to this body lotion – it is very thin in consistency, gets absorbed immediately and leaves my skin super soft. This lotion feels very luxurious upon application and the smell is very discreet. About the ingredients list – I‘m not an expert on this topic – it contains rosehip oil, and everything based on the Vichy water I trust (as I said I have very little education on this particular topic…).

L:A Bruket Broccoli Seed Serum Review

10994_large_c677162c-ab52-40f4-adcb-1293764d69b8

Pros:

Contains broccoli – which is something I never tried on my skin before.

Cons:

Comes in a glass jar.

More:

This serum got an uninvited – but very pleasent extra “dimension” – after accidentally dropping the glass jar on my bathroom floor – I put the remain in my fridge in a plastic container – and voila – applying the ice cold serum now feels beyond refreshing.

I have never used broccoli on my face – but having read its long list of beneficial properties – I was all game. Since broccoli is consider a superfood – being loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, I hoped that my post-winter superdry and very pale skin could get a good boost. Broccoli contains vitamin A (helps stimulate new skin cell production), arachidonic acid (calming effect) plus vitamins C, E and beta-carotene (reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation). So my expectations were hight – the result – the serum is like a light gel, gets absorbed relatively fast – and makes my skin feel very smooth and refreshed (especially since the broken glass jar ended up in my fridge – where it puzzles my boyfriend daily).

A big con is obviously the glass jar – which is very appealing visually but can be very unpractical.

The best budget beauty products – the complete list

pg-116-june-issue-kate-moss-vogue-29apr13-patrick-demarchelier_b_1080x720

We think that beauty should be simple – one doesn‘t have to spend tons of money to look pretty and feel happy. We all know that the best advice to look and feel splendid are free – tons of sleep, a lot of water and keeping a happy mind. But of course we are no strangers to using a little help – and since we rather spend our money on lattes and pretty dresses we wanted to share our list of budget products that makes us feel like a million bucks for a lot less…

  1. Smooth skin is number one for me personally and though I like expensive lotions and potions I always keep coming back to my favourite budget oilbaby oil – makes your skin fantastically smooth and costs next to nothing (pssst apparently sweet almond oil from the baby department at the french pharmacies is a well kept secret of french beauty..).
  2. If you are one of those girls (or boys) who are into a polished look a good hair brush is a must – the HH Simonsen wet brush – saved my hair and I have been using it ever since. Being ridiculously cheap (around 15 dollars, the cost – per – use is pretty sweet) it is one of my best budget buys EVER.
  3. Since happiness is a must for beauty – in our opinion – at least if you want that glowing  fantastic va-va-voom beauty. I get that from many things in life but one of the is a good relaxing shower (repeat after me: its the small things in life…) – and the Le Petit Marseilles Miel de Lavande shower cream – is my favourite shower gel. This one is hard to find outside of France, costs next to nothing (3 dollars), makes my skin super soft but best of all – smells fantastic of lavendar.
  4. For me a great hair oil is a staple and the Orofluido hair oil – has saved my dry hair. It costs around 20 dollars, but a 100 ml bottle lasted me for about 2,5 years so I still consider it a great investment.
  5. Finally even when on a budget an extra a bit unnecessary but oh so indulgent beauty product can make your bathroom feel a bit more extravagant – that one product for me has been  my bottle of Avene face water – which has stayed with me for the past 2 years. Yes it feels a bit stupid to pay for water, but my bottle has lasted me for over 2 years and god does it feel great to splash ones face with some thermal water and march out to meet the day ahead.

L:A Bruket Sea Salt Scrub Sage / Rosemary / Lavender Review

063_sea_salt_scrub_sage_rosemary_lavender_350ml_1024x1024

Pros:

Contains a lot of oil which makes my skin very soft after use – no need to use a body oil or body lotion.

Cons:

The scrub could be “rougher” on my skin (I like my skin to hurt a bit after a proper scrub).

More:

Those of you whom have followed us for a while know about our L:A Bruket obsession and that we can‘t get enough of these Swedish good ingredients beauty products which make us feel like a zillion (and like queens of all things natural obviously). This time we have gotton our hands on the Lavender/ Sage / Rosemary body scrub and here are our thoughts: the scrub is made of fine salt, it smells delicious mainly of rosemary and leaves our skin very smooth. The salt is drained in oil so our skin feels very hydrated and supersoft after use – which is great since most scrubs leave you itchy and in immediate need of body lotion / body oil. Negatives: the scrub could have contained bigger salt grains in order for one to really feel a more “rough” scrub.

The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter Review

Pros:

Smells lovely of peach.

Cons:

Really doesn‘t solve the problem of superdry skin.

More:

This body butter smells lovely, peachy and sweet though not too much of sweetness. It dries in really quickly and you don‘t need much per use. It works great on medium dry skin, but if you are post vacation and really need something extra you really can‘t count on it – seriously after a recent trip to the sun my legs were beyond dry and after I used this body butter one could not really tell I had used anything at all. So sure, it smells sweet and nice, but if you need something super hydrating use this one instead.

Le Petit Marseilles Miel de Lavande Shower Cream Review

Pros:

Cheap and smells great.

Cons:

Can rarely be found outside of France.

More:

I adore this soap. It costs about 2 euro, when bought in France. This particular one smells of lavender and honey, leaves you and your bathroom smelling of sweetness, and does not kill your wallet. I know that some upscale stores sell this brand pricy outside of France, but please dont be tricked, and order it from a friend who is going to Paris rather then killing your wallet.

The soap does not dry out your skin, lathers well and you dont need much.
