Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask Review

peter_thomas_roth_cucumber_gel_mask_5oz_900x900

Pros:

You need a tiny tiny bit per use – so you can use this jar forever.

Cons:

Might have caused an allergic reaction for my poor friend.

More:

I haven’t quit made up my mind of what I think of this mask – on one hand I think it‘s really hydrating, I love that you need very little per use, and it‘s not very sticky (despite being a gel). On the other hand I‘m almost certain it gave my friend an allergic reaction – not a serious one just some redness that passed within a few hours – but still a bit of a killer when one brings this for a fun spa day with girlfriends and one of them turns into a tomato (she had tried it once before – which makes it more plausible, since one doesn‘t get an allergic reaction when using something for the first time). After using this mask I still need a cream and a serum but feel baby smooth, but not 100% covered in terms of hydration. This is a decent mask and you can make it last a year at least, but the result is not that fantastic considering its price.

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask Review

Pros:

You see an instant result (10 minutes is all you need).

Cons:

Smells a bit like a candy shop.

More:

This is my third mask from The Body Shop‘s new series (read the reviews here and here). This mask contains honey, marula and olive oil – all delicious ingredients which are Fare Trade marked. The mask is supposed to replenish your skin and give it loads of love and nurture.

My impressions: first and foremost the mask smells very sweet but delicious, it is pretty sticky but not a pain to wash off – which is important. The results: it leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth, and you need very little per use (aka putting on a thick layer won‘t increase its effects – trust me I‘ve tried). I think considering the price this mask is very much worth every penny, making me feel like I‘m in my own spa. If you‘re not a fan of sweet smells, don‘t get it – because it smells kind of like a candy shop.

The Body Shop AMAZONIAN ACAI ENERGIZING RADIANCE MASK Review

Pros:

Yummy flowery smell and nice texture.

Cons:

Doesn‘t give you that “WOW” glow, which one hopes for.

More:

I‘m really struggling not to be too harsh to this mask, but I have high standards when it comes to “miracle glow” potions (this is my secret which I shall never stop using, no empty my wallet is). So I do expect miracles when a mask promises skin texture to appear “refined, clearer and healthier-looking”. Unfortunately my only judge this far has been my granny whom I‘m visiting and she always thinks I look like a princes (even when I have chocolate stains all over my pyjamas and haven‘t showered for 3 days), and she said I look awesome after using this mask.

Back to the facts: this mask smells great of flowers, has small exfoliating particles (guarana seeds) crammed in its yelly texture and is easy to remove, not being overly sticky. Sometimes when I use it, it causes extra blood flow to my face thus making me feel extra glowing, this only happened the first 2 times though. It doesn‘t irritate my skin or cause outbrakes, which is great. Why does it only get 3 stars then? Because yes my skin looks nice and smooth afterwards, but no WOW effect, which we all crave and keep searching for.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask Review

Pros:

This mask is a hydrating bomb.

Cons:

Can cause break-outs when your skin is in a sensitive state.

More:

This mask is my absolute favourite, the one I return to after fooling around with others and feeling the disappointment, cause no mask compares to this one. It is a overnight mask, so you wake up with nice and hydrated skin the next day after usage. It sinks in fast and the consistency is that of a really thick cream. Not everybody loves this mask and Origins have previously disappointed me but this mask makes up for all of that. I got it two years ago and the tube is still very much full, because you need so little per use. The big minus is the drastic price difference: the mask is much cheaper in the US. Also it smells a bit of old flowers in my opinion, which sometimes can irritate me.

This mask has made me break out on rare occasions, when my skin was so sensitive is should not have put anything on (except this), but still.

Beauté Pacifique Deep Pore Cleansing Mask Review

Pros:

Good mask option for girls and guys with problem skin.

Cons:

Doesn‘t clean out my pores.

More:

Beauté Pacifique Deep Pore Cleansing Mask is a white creamy clay mask that gives you fresh looking skin after use. It has a mild fruity scent which is nice and understated. It apparently has a unisex appeal as my boyfriend has used up half the tube! As for deep pore cleansing, I haven’t ever found clay masks particularly ground breaking, and this one isn’t either. They just can’t do the same as scrubs or medical products but they can reduce shine and astringe pore-size. This one has an added calming cooling effect on the skin which feels great, and isn’t too drying unlike many clay masks. I also like the fact that it’s white so it doesn’t make a huge mess around the sink when I splash it off. The mask isn’t too harsh on sensitive or acne-prone skin, so it’s also a good home-spa option for delicate winter skin.

BEAUTÉ PACIFIQUE Instant Hydrating Mask

Pros:

Very moisturising.

Cons:

It‘s a bit pricy.

More:

Spring is here, and I am almost ready to depart with my “heavy” face creams and move on to lighter products. Naturally I have been locking for a face mask (it‘s no secret that I‘m very much obsessed) to bring into my spring routine – one that isn‘t too “heavy” and “fat” but rather gets absorbed quickly but still makes your skin looks luminous and smooth when you wake up.

I like that the founders of Danish Beauté Pacifique are engineers and have a past working for the medical industry, I just simply can‘t imagine engineers things that would be crappy for your face. I also like that those same engineers develop medical equipment for diagnostics of skin diseases – which makes me feel that they are far more knowledgeable then the execs of some major skin care brands. And of course- as all of you know – I have a soft spot for smaller companies making their way in the beauty industry relying on the quality of their products rather then multibillions dollar ads.

Back to this mask: the consistency of it is very light, it gets absorbed quick and smells of herbs. It can also be used as a 10 minutes mask, but I only use it overnight. The result is satisfying: my skin is soft, looks radiant and I get everything else that one would expect from a very moisturising mask. The only con is that it is a bit pricy. The mask also promises to minimize fine lines and wrinkles but I think I need to use it for a year at least to be able to tell if I can see any of those results…

Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Overnight Firming Mask Review

Pros:

Makes my skin look more firm and spotless.

Cons:

The price.

More

I am a big fan of the Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules (those golden capsules filled with serum that does amazingness to my skin). So I was really curious to try this new mask from the brand. The mask contains freesia, jasmine, vanilla, and sandalwood scent, and it has even been claimed that it can improve your sleep (not sure about that trial though – anybody would be happy having an expensive mask on being paid to participate in a trial wearing it). What I thought? The mask is easy to apply, dries in quickly – which is a nice change from all those super greasy night masks.  The results? Next day my skin feels more firm, glowing and pretty much spotless when I wake up. The mask is expensive, but the package lasts for very long (a year maybe), so I see it as an investment.

Origins Calm Your Senses Mask Review

Pros:

A tube lasts for years.

Cons:

Don‘t feel that calming effect which was promised to me.

More:

This overnight mask contains Buckbean and St. Paul’s Wort extract, lavender and camomile. It promises to reduce stressful looking lines and restore radiance. The Origins lady who sold it to me said that I would literally feel how I became more calm when putting on this mask. My verdict- I do not feel more relaxed or calm by the smell of this mask (it has a smell of a mix of the “typical” sweet Origins smell and lavender) and it is just not much better then a very fat creme. Basically this mask reminds a bit of the Origins Overnight mask. It is a very thick creme, which is good for hydrating your skin after a long day, since you use it overnight. But that is about it- next day my skin is smooth, but not much more fresh or radiant (maybe after 25 masks can‘t do that for you). A plus is that you need very little per use for this mask, so if you still consider getting it after reading it- split one package with a friend.

Review of Decleor Hydra Floral Expert Multi Protection Mask

Pros:

Adds a lot of moisture in just a few minutes.

Cons:

Can make your skin itchy if stays on for too long, and obviously the price.

More:

This is my second purchase from Decleor ever, being a fierce fan of their  night balm, I had high expectations. The mask in itself feels like a light cream, does not smell of anything in particular, and you only need a small amount per application. It contains wild Pansy extract, samphire extract, and hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is one of those hyped ingredients, promoted as a source of youth, which in fact has not been scientifically proven.

Back to the mask: you see an instant result after ten minutes use. My skin feels more hydrated and therefore more radiant. When I purchased the mask, I was told that one can use it as an overnight mask- which turned out to be a big nooooo for my sensitive skin, and I broke out a bit. So use it only for those ten minutes recommended. Would I purchase it again? Probably not, there are plenty of similar masks out there, giving you the same amount of hydration for a better price.
