Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask Review

04192068_zi

Pros:

Instant hydration.

Cons:

Expensive (at least if bought in Europe compared to the US)

More:

I think Kiehl’s is a brand with very uneven quality – I love their hair mask and coriander face mask. But their hand cream feels like a pharmacy balm which won‘t get absorbed, and their vitamin C serum – which I spent a fortune on – did absolutely nothing for me. But sometimes they really get it right – just like they did with this face mask – which I discovered at random. It feels like a regular face cream when you apply it – so not too thick. It gets absorbed very quickly – and it you see an instant result. Next day my skin looks extremely smooth, plumb and hydrated. Some overnight masks can be very rich causing sensitive skin like mine to break out – but this mask can be used several nights a week without any break-outs or feeling that you “overfeed” your skin with too much goodness.

An obvious minus with Kiehl’s and many other American brands is – that they are more expensive in Europe. The price in the US is completely ok but in Europe buying Kiehl’s is a bit of an extravagance.

Revlon Eksperience Wave Remedy Anti Frizz Hair Cleanser Review

41sa8vwcqwl._sy355_

Pros:

Actually holds frizz down.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

I‘m currently on a bit of a break from my war on frizz – its been raining non-stop for 2 weeks in my part of the hood and I‘m exhausted from trying to keep my hair looking ok.  I have given up and am focusing all my love and selfcare on my face. But I still would like to recommend this shampoo which has been a good friend in my anti-frizz war (even though even this shampoo can‘t do anything when the rain pours down like it does right now). What I like about this shampoo is that its easy to use: easy to wash out of your hair, and doesn‘t make my scalp dry – which most other shampoos do. It also gives great subtle volume and most importantly – holds my frizz back from ruining my good hair days.

Eucerin Aquaporin Active Cream Review

ecn_15810_69781_aquaporin_day_spf_25_ps_print111111-800x600

Pros:

Gives great hydration.

Cons:

No anti-wrinkle properties.

More:

This cream worked great for me – I have very dry skin, that likes to transform into oily skin (due to all the dryness) which causes huge break-outs. So my mission has been to find a cream which provides me with only moisture but no “fat”, and this cream does that for me.  It‘s very light in texture and can be used both during the winter and the summer, and I use it as a day and night cream (because I‘m on a budget).

This cream was one of my weapons when I decided to try to get rid of my break-outs/acne without medication. And it worked. I also used African black soap, the enzyme peel by Emma S and tea tree oil.

What are the minuses? The cream has no anti-wrinkle active ingredients, just pure hydration.

Emma S Jasmine Facial Toner Review

7350053040526_1_default_default

Pros:

Keeps my skin hydrated whilst removing impurities.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

I‘m obsessed with facial toners – I still remember my first one – my skin never felt so clean. This toner smells lightly of jasmine and also contains cucumber (simplicity for the win). I really like how clean my skin feels after use (and I can see how much dirt and sun powder it gets off my face). Most importantly it doesn‘t dry out my skin, and leaves it feeling hydrated. A minus? You need pretty much per use, but the price is reasonable so it makes up for it.

Ole Henriksen Moment Of Truth 2-In-1 Polishing Sugar Mask Review

download (2)

Pros:

Loads of delish ingredients.

Cons:

Not an efficient scrub.

More:

This year autumn did really give my skin a proper beating (that and my newfound love of going out twice a week for some proper dancing and alcohol). So each Friday I‘m all glowy skin from my sheet masks, 8 hours sleep and veggie diet. And then afterwork and GTs come my way and by Sunday I look 10 years older (but feel 10 years lighter cause I‘ve had so much fun). So I keep on restoring my skin to then break it down. And some would say this is stupid, and I should stay home more – but I can‘t I‘m having too much fun.

So buying this mask is just another measure to restore restore and restore my skin. First of all it‘s extremely sticky, you feel like you are wearing a layer of sugar literally (but two of its ingredients are raw sugar and honey so it makes sense). It takes ages to wash off cause it feels like you are wearing a coat of syrup. This mask contains loads of yummy ingredients (pure honey, rosehip oil, pomegranate seed powder and pumpkin extract) and promises to make your skin glowy and exfoliate it. I think it does give my skin a great glow, and after using it in the evening I can definitely still tell a difference next day.

About the exfoliation – well I believe in a proper scrub, like your skin should even itch a bit after – and I simply don‘t feel that with this mask. The grains are pretty large but the thick surgery texture of the mask makes it impossible to massage it in your face – cause you just get so sticky and uncomfortable.

Conclusion – it‘s an ok mask – but I won‘t repurchase it.

Emma S Ultimate Serum Review

emma-s.-ultimate-serum-2103-143-0015_1

Pros:

Very hydrating.

Cons:

The price is a bit steep (compared to their other products).

More:

Last week I found out something new about serums – and I‘m ashamed to admit I didn‘t know it being a beauty blogger – but I still want to share it with you all – so here it comes – you have to wait as long as possible after applying your serum before you apply your cream on top of it. This in order for the active ingredients in the serum to get their time to work properly on your skin. So now first thing I do in the morning is run to apply my serum. All these years I‘ve been piling everything on top of each other (and still felt a good effekt, so now I expect miracles). Anyways, back to this Emma S serum. Being a big fan of their Ageless serum – I decided to give it a go, despite it being for slightly older skin then mine. It‘s main focus is anti-age and being 30 I feel its the right time to start (it‘s soo individual but I feel that just hydrating my skin is no longer good enough).

This serum contains hyalaronic acid and Vitamin A derivates. I trust Emma S – because I know their philosophy is all about good efficient no bull ingredients. Emma being a supermodel before retouching existed is a great example of ageing with grace. So using this serum I hoped my skin would get some of her glow. Result? This serum has given my skin loads of hydration and I definitely got rid of my “dryness wrinkles” (lines in your face you get when your skin is dehydrated). Minus? This serum is pretty “fat” so I rarely apply creams on top of it because then my skin feels sticky and make-up cakes up.

Avène YsthéAL Intense Anti-wrinkle Skin Renewal Concentrate Review

avene-ystheal-intense-concentre-antirides-renovateur-de-peau-tous-types-de-peaux-30ml

Pros:

Gives loads of hydration.

Cons:

My pump bottle broke immediately.

More:

I have felt a bit confused in my skin care routine lately (has something to do with hitting the big 30 Freud said) – should I try every new ingredient on the market OR should I now that I hit 30 start buying expensive creams that kill my wallet but promise youthful skin forever OR should I go for Nivea creams for a year and save up for those Givenchy boots I dream about….When I get confusions like these I usually go back to basics – and that for me is going back to some good ingredients. Naturally when my serum ran out it created havoc in my head cause I couldn‘t decide on which strategy to go for. Serum is the most important product in my routine so . Using the Avene thermal water spray daily it‘s on my must trusted ingredients – so when my serum ran out and I was all confused I went for my safe card.

This serum promises to restore radiance and diminish fine lines/wrinkles and of course loads of hydration. And I think it works – it‘s no miracle worker – if you want your wrinkles to disappear you have to go for botox (I‘m just not there). But my skin looks and feels very hydrated. Using it during the cold months hasn‘t been a problem in term of hydration and it has been sufficient. Also I like that it gets absorbed very fast. Minus? My pump bottle broke literally one week after I got this serum so using it was a bit of a technical difficulty.

Avène Skin Care Oil Review

avene-body-skin-care-oil-100ml

Pros:

Not sticky and gets absorbed fast.

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

Oil has been the it thing in skincare for a long time now…and I‘m beyond hocked – my bathroom shelf is correlating to this trend –  I have way to many body oils and every time I pass a new one I just can‘t help myself.

So having tried many oils I become a harsher critic with each new bottle I try. This oil is relatively cheap and I didn‘t really have any high expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised. It smells amazing – but still pretty discreet. It‘s not greasy or sticky, gets absorbed fast and keeps my skin hydrated. The minus: you need a lot per use. So the bottle gets used up pretty fast.

Alterna Bamboo Volume Abundant Shampoo and Conditioner Review

41qicy-mkel

Pros:

Gives great natural volume indeed.

Cons:

The shampoo and conditioner smell a bit too strong for me.

More:

I have had some up and downs with my hair lately (it just looks and feels tired – just like me) – and these two have come in handy. The shampoo and conditioner make my hair very soft and I don‘t use any additional products except hair mask and some oil on my split ends and my hair still looks totally “fixed” and in place. Like I just visited a hairdresser. But the volume in my hair rather subtle, so if you are locking for some crazy volume this is the wrong shampoo and conditioner, also a lot of natural volume in my hair and don‘t know how much of it comes from the shampoo and conditioner and how much is just my own.
