Avène Trixera Nutri-fluid Cleanser Review

ave_ne_-_trixera_nutrition_gel_nutri-flui_do_400ml

Pros:

Makes my skin very soft after use – I almost don‘t need my body lotion after use (saves me soo much time).

Cons:

You need a lot per use.

More:

So winter is here and my whole body is saying no to me by being extremely dry: my hair is very very dry, my eyes medium dry, my skin pretty dry (my humour not so dry…I think..or hope?). Anyways I‘m doing everything I can to make it easier for me to get out of bed every day: I do my sheet masks, I do my hair masks, I do the fat body lotions and then of course the oils. But then I realised that I had a blind spot in my routine – my soaps (I have too many of them, don‘t even want to talk about it) – which I don‘t choose by their effect on my skin but by their smell (preferably rose, lemon or lavender). Soaps do dry out skin – it‘s common knowledge (read about why here), so I decided to try something new – to get a body soap which wouldn‘t require me using thick layers of body lotion after showering.

This Avene cleanser is soap free (I told you guys Avene is my safe place and where I head for my good basics), and leaves my skin feeling super hydrated. I think the price is fair considering a bottle is 400 ml and the only minus I see is that you need a lot per use. Of course I sometimes glance at my old soaps in the bath –  missing their strong smell (which made me feel like a 100 year old lady with no sense for when enough perfume is enough), but knowing that I‘m doing my skin some good makes me feel great, so I will not switch back until these epic months of extreme dryness are over.

The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Rescue Cream-Mask Review

2157_0

Pros:

Makes my skin feel very hydrated.

Cons:

No extra benefits to my skin but hydration.

More:

I think that 2017 will be all about aloe vera for me. 2016 was a year when I obsessed about rose and lavender (and still do a bit) – bit this year I feel like the calming ingredients should calm my skin instead of my hurricane mind. So therefore I got this mask – after being in the sun the first to months of 2017 (lucky me) – I felt like my skin needed some extra hydration, and this mask was pretty reasonable priced so I couldn‘t resist.

Verdict: the mask is like a fat cream. I doesn‘t irritate my skin, and you only need a thin layer. Results: very smooth, calm and hydrated skin. Just like one would expect after a fat face cream (except fat face creams usually make me break out so I prefer this mask).

Eau Thermale Avène Micellar Lotion Review

11117584-1574441838431269

Pros:

Makes my skin feel very clean and bright.

Cons:

More expensive outside of France.

More:

French pharmacy products are my safe happy place – they are the ones I turn to when I get tired of complicated beauty (like all those new products and technologies we are constantly being bombarded with). Getting clearer skin, getting rid of blemishes and blackheads has been the theme for me during the past months – the first step was adding a micellar water permanently to my routine. I use it after my cleanser and before my toner. The function of the micellar water is to remove dirt and excessive make-up.

Verdict: My skin is definitely more bright, softer and I have reduced those blemish outbursts. I feel like my make-up is being removed more efficiently, and I will continue having micellar water as a part of my daily routine. Sometimes when I feel my skin needs an extra boost, I will use micellar water in the morning too, before applying my day cream (sleeping in a small room with closed door sure isn‘t good for my skin).

What about this particular micellar water – well it‘s my first one, so I don‘t really have anything to compare it too, but the bottle lasts for ages, it doesn‘t smell and a big plus is I know Avene uses good ingredients (I live by their thermal water, which is the base for every product). Also doesn‘t dry out my skin.

Having read several reviews of this micellar water (here), i reacted to several reviewers mentioning how expensive Avene is – I got a big bottle of it for about 13 dollars in France – but I know it‘s more outside of France, which is annoying because it‘s a great budget alternative when purchased in a French pharmacy.

Vichy Pureté Thermale Fresh Cleansing Gel Review

11119868-1734309291118445

Pros:

You need extremely little per use.

Cons:

Very strong smell.

More:

I have no special relationship to cleansers – when choosing one I often look for what‘s on sale or just ask Santa for one for Christmas. I know that this is a bit of a sin amongst beauty bloggers, since there is a constant obsession about what gel/cleanser/toner could give one clearer skin, and which one has the most magic potion of ingredients.

This package just looked so nice and anything mentioning gel makes me think that its all just fresh, clean, no black pores and a new start (yeah I know, major association fail..). What hit me first about this gel is that it has a very strong smell, which is pleasent but definitely too strong, that it lathers a lot, but has a very thick consistency and that washing it off is pretty time consuming. Results – my skin feels very hydrated after use, and it cleans off my make-up just fine. But no miracles of extremely bright skin or new found radiance – just same plain me.

Revlon Professional be Fabulous C.R.E.A.M mask Review (for normal/thick hair)

cream_mask_200ml

Pros:

Makes my hair easy to detangle.

Cons:

Smell is a bit heavy.

More:

I feel a bit like a professor of the be Fabulous line – because I‘ve tested most of the products (see reviews here, here and here). This hair mask is one of my favourites (the strong number one is held by the repairing serum  – I used up the bottle in a month). I like that it makes my hair easy to detangle, and that it doesn‘t have to stay in your hair for too long for effect (I make it 10 minutes usually). The smell is a bit heavy – makes you feel like you are in a hair saloon. It makes my hair OK moisturised – the thing is that it‘s soo cold right now everything on my body is dry (my skin, my eyes, and of course my hair too) – so I feel that I can‘t really give this mask a fair mark on that one, because I‘m using coconut oil on all of my body (except eyes though) to try make all that dryness disappear – and feel that its a bit of an exceptionally dry state my hair is in – that no mask can help me out of (but a combo of a lot of oil/this hair mask/oil mist can)…

Orofluido Amazonia Shampoo Review

orofluido-amazonia-shampoo-200-ml

Pros:

I don‘t need to wash my hair for 5 days at least when using this shampoo.

Cons:

No protection against frizz (…but maybe I should just use an umbrella for that?).

More:

Those of you who followed this blog for a while, know that I‘m obsessed with the Orofluido hair oil (it changed my hair game big time and though I have cheated on it, I have never found a better oil to use). The shampoo contains 4 “magic” ingredients:  keratin, murumuru butter, acai beef extract and sacha-inchi-oil – each of the promising something like smoother, softer, more beautiful, healthy-looking hair. It‘s supposed to smell of “exotic berries and spicy ingredients” – though I think it smells more of apple.

My verdict is that it makes my thick hair look very healthy, gives it a smoother appearance all over all it looks more “put together”. Minus:  no protection against frizz and you need a lot per use.
